If I were guessing, they figure to rip off insurance companies, and get paid more.

Tomatoes are the hot thing right now, bananas are worth much less per pound and aren't affected much by weather in this country.

They don't let tomatoes sit at the dock nearly as long. I know this from sitting at the dock next to a load of tomatoes with a load of bananas.:biggrin_2556:

bananas are shipped green and when they get to the warehouse they are refrigerated and when they get ready to ship them to the stores the put them in a big room and fill the room with ethlene gas which speeds up the ripening prosess

Well I'm not going to say this didn't happen--BUT--I have been hauling produce a LONG time--and contrary to popular belief Tomatoes are not worth all that much at any time of year--they do occasionally pay well to haul--BUT--sure alot of expense to haul a few loads of a perishable commodity--that doesn't bring near enough market--especially HOT to make this worth anyone's while--there has GOT to be more to this--it just doesn't make any sense
