I haven't had a problem with the double knobs sticking...But I will admit, the double knobs is the one gripe I have with the radio...There so small, it makes it hard to grip to turn on and off...I'm not sure why Cobra decided to go with such tiny knobs on the one knob that gets used the most!
As for the brightness, I haven't seen that was a problem, except maybe if your using the RED background...There is a setting where you can increase or dim the lighting for day and night use...plus there is also a "dimmer" button...So once you set just "How Dim" you want the radio at night. Then when you push the Dimmer, the radio will go to the dim setting you set...Pretty Cool!

Why doesn't someone make a radio with a push on/off switch instead of having it in the volume knob? I probably turn my radio off for phone calls 15-20 times a day, figuring out where I want the volume every time gets old..

Heck why do they make CB radios the same way they've been making them for the last 30 years? Yes they've added a few new things here and there....but look at some of the 2 meter ham radios...they make them with a detachable face that allows you to put the main body of the radio under a seat so you can put just the face with all the buttons and such on the dash to give you more room inside. They could make CB radios the same way I'm sure but they don't.
I like the idea of a separate on/off switch as opposed to it being the same one as the volume knob. They could do it. They still put channel 9 switches on some newer radios. And channel 9 has been dead for a long time now. So a channel 9 switch on a newer radio is useless.josh.c Thanks this. -

Instead of turning your radio off why not just go up to ch. 20? There's hardly ever anyone on any ch. but 19

A change with the motherboard on the 50th Anniversary edition. The weather board is integrated now, rather than being a separate board. I don't like the weather feature. Got tired of it scaring the crap outta me. Not sure how I'm going to deal with it anyway, so if I die in a tornado, at least let me do it in my sleep, k? Don't wake me up for it.
Overall, I'm happy with mine....until the arthritis makes it impossible to turn that tiny knob. I had to look at it a few times to be sure there wasn't a part missing. Had a bench tune done. Send and receive are more than adequate. -
NICE too bad it is not legal .....
Our FCC should think about FM for CB use
but all they think about is paychecks

There's enough, and there are enough radios that bleed over to 20. Most of my phone calls are with customers, and there's nothing more embarrassing than having something ridiculous come across the cb while you're on the phone. I also inevitably forget to turn it back to 19, the lights are still on, so I don't notice it's on the wrong channel.

Bruce, it is legal.... in the EU.

Smarty
I know that ........
Our problem is the FCC not the fact EU, AUS and most of the rest of the world uses FM .
