    Greetings to all Pros and fellow Newbies. Class C with Passenger Endorsement thinking about going OTR. Not in a rush, probably after summer is over. Been driving limos out of AC since 1999 (off and on). Sick of that part of the industry, lusting for the open road. Just thinking about it at the moment. Peace!

    Actually I was sometimes curious about the Limo job. Sick of it for any particular reason? Snobby customers? Or just have the urge to travel?

    Well, Videodrome, I always did well in limos. But, like anything else, you have to gain the trust of the Dispatcher. The pay is low ($5.00 an hour plus tips). In the old days we made $1100.00 to $1500.00 a week doing 60-70 hours. Nowadays, you get 40-50 hours and usually average $500 to $700 a week. Lot of former Bus and Truck Drivers working in the industry. There are lots of reasons I am tired of it, but not really the Customers (most are decent people overall). Just tired of the public in general and want those long miles, benefits.

    Well I think it's kind of iffy you'll earn more trucking but it really depends on the companies and how hard you are willing to run. Also putting up with the log book hours of service.

    I met another trucker who used to drive Limos. He said most of it was okay but would have the occasional cheap customer or people with an elitist attitude. However I can imagine many are just business people who don't want to deal with the city driving.

    You get the occasional a-hole everywhere, of course. As far as trucking goes, I plan to basically kill myself the first year to get experience, earn my mettle and get to know the road. No romantic visions here, just a strong work ethic and ability to put up with chest high bs. Driving a limo these days, BTW, is best left to retirees.
