Yes, Les. You are exactly right. No matter what choice I made, if a collision had happened, it would have been a preventable. If the driver of the car had been hit, I would have been wrong for being in his lane. If I'd run the tire over and rolled, it would have been my fault for not avoiding the tire. If I'd gone for the median and the guy behind me had hit me, it would have been my fault for not remaining in my lane. If had not tried to pass at all and the other guy hit the tire and rolled into me, it would have been my fault for doing nothing to avoid it. You're danged if you do and danged if you don't.
Happily, nobody had to report anything.

Good for you for realizing what could have happened in this situation and sharing it with the rest of us. One thing is for sure, people are going to make mistakes. The important this is to try to learn from those mistakes so we can prevent them in the future. I think talking about them is a good way to move forward. You not only help yourself, but you help others that care enough to read about it. Good job.Injun Thanks this.

one reason I hate recaps! IMO they should be outlawed!
-
Dude?!?PHP:
Reading comprehension please? The lady said 'tire,' not 'cap.' -
not sure if it would cause yu to roll--but it sure could make a mess underneath on the truck
good eye watching out for the gators
i have nothing against recaps--some are good --some arnt--some virgin tires are good--some arnt
the problem with tires is that when the driver isnt smarter than the tire--any tire can go boom -
It was a complete tire not a cap.
Now where did my spare tire go..........Injun Thanks this.
