I'm not exactly a new driver; I've been driving for 3 1/2 years. But, I am new to driving solo. I'm having a problem that I never had as a team driver. I am often getting woke up at night by someone knocking on my door. I'm assuming it's a lot lizard. I keep my curtains closed. I ignore them and they eventually go away but, it interrupts my sleep and, because I'm a female out here alone, it scares the heck out me. I'd appreciate any legitimate suggestions.
How do I stop knocks on my door at night?

Suggestion: Stop parking/sleeping on the scale..we need to use it!
Jeepintrucker, delta5, popmartian and 20 others Thank this. -
Too bad the police don't do their job and arrest the prostitutes and lowlifes that frequent the truckstops and rest areas.
Since most companies won't let you idle the truck, do you guys feel safe with your windows rolled down while sleeping? Seems like it would be easy to rob you. -
I said "legitimate suggestions."
Irondog Thanks this. -
I'll be honest with you..i dont know where you guys are parking..but,i havent seen a prostitute n a trck stop in several years.
I just figured it was the economy..the trck stops had to layoff all the girls working the parking lots..Elvenhome21 Thanks this. -
O' im sorry.but, maybe u could try answering ur door..then you would know whta they wanted..
Question answered.
I mean.ur trck could be on fire....or
There has been a nuclear spill down at the railway and we need to evacuate this trck stop....or
last year a trck stop mgr.went out knocking on drivers doors and getting everyone up and into the cooler right befora tornadoe leveled the place.
My legitamate answer to your question?..get up..look pissed off with a bad attitude.............and then.........go answer the door? -
No offense sweetheart but,you are in more danger by NOT answering the door.
Freight theft is very real and happens EVERY day.
to lay in ur sleeper while someone is knocking and knocking like some kinda scared rabbit in a hole is NOT making you safer...it is only making someone think no one is home and jimmy the locks..
What are you going to do when they knock,knock..then..you feel the trck rock and the door opens and they are standing between the seats looking down at you?larryaz Thanks this. -
Please make sure you have a "plan" to either protect yourself or to get out. Take advantage of the thoughtfulness of some of the great Drivers you will meet out here and use that as a safety net (parking w/ them, walking to truck, being seen w/ another person rather than by yourself, etc.). There is a great commrodery out here that makes this a safe & enjoyable career -
Take careGears, larryaz and JolliRoger Thank this. -
:smt046, now thats a good one!

If you park in descent, well lit places, then knocks on the door would become rare. But if someone does come knocking, then at the very least, answer with one hand on the air horn just in case.
platinum Thanks this.
