a question for you. Why would Swift say they would rehire me a year or so ago and now say no? And no one will tell me why. Recruiter will not return calls. Saftey will not tell me. Answer please?

1. Ex driver reapplies with Swift. A form is generated that is sent to the terminal manager to either approve or deny you for rehire. I get these forms almost daily. What I do is review the drivers file, did they run good, any problems notated about the driver...excessive hometime, violence or improper language etc.. Each TM is different on their rehire criteria. If everything is over a year old, and they show that they have been working since leaving swift driving a truck, then I generally approve them. If there is a bunch of history, and they have been gone a short time, I deny their rehire. Usually a recruiter will then submit you to a different TM to see if another one will accept you. Since I believe in second chances and am more lenient on my criteria, I tend to see more drivers from other states being sent across to me.
2. Once Approved from Operations it goes to Safety. Safety pulls your dac, your record with Swift when you were there for accidents, citations, log violations, negative road reports and they will say yes or no. I do not fnid out the reason if they say no, but if you have been gone less then one year and you had multiple accidents, citations, log violations, then safety will probably deny your rehire. If something from your previous employer comes up that is serious enough, then that can lead to denial also.
3. Once safety approves then security looks at you. Your criminal background is run, and your records are looked over. If there are no problems there then you are approved and recruiting calls you back to schedule your orientation.
I am not sure at what step you may have been declined, and there are many reasons I have not stated that could affect you also within each catagory, I was just listing some examples. You can send me your driver code and I can generalize if I see a problem listed and also possibly offer some suggestions. I would not post it, but send to you directly.

The two of you won't be able to do this, as neither of you have sufficient posts to enable PM privileges. However, you CAN send PM's to moderators. I can assist you by forwarding the information between the two of you.

hey vickw
I was denied employment with your company I was wondering what would be the possible reasons.
I listed one accident back in dec 2006 and one ticket.
The accident I was not charged with it. It was only a bumper tap were the guy was trying to claim more damages that I did not do and was able to prove it to the cop on scene that they guy was lieing about his damages that is why I did not get charged with the accident. There were no damage done by me to his vehicle.
I know that Werner has a policy that the accident must be 12 months old or more before they will take me.
The last time I pulled my MVR it was clean except 2 tickets that was way back in I belive 2001 or 2002 I pulled my MVR back in March or Apirl. I will be pulling it in July again before I leave to my first company. -
Thank you Mack, I have no problem with that if he is willing. -
From the sounds of it, that would be a rear end accident within 12 months. We follow the ATA guidlelines for accidents and if they are preventable or non preventable. ATA does not take into consideration if citations were issued or not. After 1 year has gone by you should not have any problems as long as your mvr stays clean.

Vick,
Is there a way to shorten the 42 day OTR training or is it written in stone?
