I don't use motor oil every time--more like once every 2500-3000--and then I just add about a quart of waste oil per tank(doesn't cost anything)--but it is the quality of fuel vs the Temperature that is the problem--everybody gets burned now and again--Got me Last winter--heading north out of grand forks--air temp was right at -40F--did my normal thing few hours before in MN--approx 70% blended winter fuel--30%Staright #1 Diesel--and a gallon fuel dope in each tank--didn't totally gel--just got really goopy in primary fuel filter--limped to the potato barn in Grafton--where I knew I could at least get the hood inside--swapped out filters--filled em with that emergency 911 stuff--and I was fine--course couldn't get but about 50 outta her--but I wasn't stopping on the side of 29--in that tempand 35+mph winds--Unless I ABSOLUTELY HAD TO!--LOL
But everybody gets burned once in a while--part of the job! -
yesterday i was driving in montana in the snow and after when i fill up my tanks the fuelfilter was frozen and i put before and now antigel from howes the engine run ok ,only my mpg was a horror 4.57 with max 30000 in the trl, last wintertime iam not have this problem only in this winter meaby the quality from the fuel is very bad, when the fuelfilter is frozen my mpg is 1 -1,5 miles worster then normal, and with this fuelprices is this a horror for me

I talked with a fuel transport driver recently who delivers in northern WI and Michigan... he has only hauled ONE load of blended fuel all winter. Everyone is using straight #2 with an additive called "Tundra" which is an anti gel product.
-
Only iam not undestand why I have this problem only this wintertime ,and not last winter,
-
I think they changed the formula on rubbing alcohol. Its 30% water now.

i was looking one the wolverineheaters.com.i see 2 div fuelpadheaters 1 with 100 w and the other with 50 watt, what modell is the best for my columbia with cat c13 and after i have to find a shop for the instalation ,iam not can do the instaltion
-
I noticed that too! But i started watching at the store i go to.(Marc's around Cleveland,Oh.) and they started stocking some 99.9%,i stocked up. Also Davco has a heated fuel/water separator maybe all you need to get heat is a base for what you already have plus run some power to it. I'm telling you if you drain it regularly it will help the problem big time. I would look in your tanks at night with a flashlight, you may have accumulated a large amount of condensation in the bottom of the tank. If so pull the plug in the bottom of the tank out and drain the water and crap out.
