Google ABF jobs, they are hiring casual and full time people in your area. Good Luck! If you go about things correctly you could work yourself into two pensions.

Your advice has been wonderful, and I have been researching more and more options thanks to your insights. I wanted to post a thank you to all who replied. For the few who are skeptical or discount prior road time on a school bus, I did mention I have hauled grain and hay/straw locally in a tractor trailer box and flatbed for many years, and am receiving the training certificate most companies want from a certified school, added with the straight truck/school bus operations, and the fact I have NO moving violations or ticketed offenses period... well, allow me my delusions until they are beaten by the industry, please. I need positive, real, and informative responses please. I am only looking to get minimal experience, fill a void for some company, make a little money, and establish some ground work to launch from when my children are graduated and the wife and I can go full time otr. Doesn't sound threatening or unachievable to me, but we shall see... Please, if anyone else has positive and helpful advice, keep them coming, I am truly grateful for your time and experience. Again, Thank you all.

This industry has a high turnover rate. You may just not mention that you are only interested in something for the summer when applying for a position. It is expensive training new drivers. Some other options you may consider is to fill in while other drivers take a vacation. Ryder and Penske at one time used drivers to fill in during vacation times. Some carriers only haul mail. That could be something you might be able do on weekends. UPS, FedEx and some of the other LTL carriers may use people on weekends or part time. Your state employment office might have listings of those who might need part time drivers. To find exactly what you want may take a lot of leg work. Most companies don't hire people to only use during summer. Things could be different during the holiday season. One other option that might work is construction companies. Summer is usually the time when most states do their road construction. You could find something driving a dump. Some dumps are trailers. You may also check with part time employment services such as Manpower. Most who go to them only want part time or seasonal or temporary workers.
