I don't know. How did you take the comment?

I don't need a log book to know when I'm sleepy. I don't think a line on a piece of paper makes the roads any safer...

The DOT "TRUST" that when we go to the bunk for those 8 mandated hours, that we get the rest we need to drive our trucks safely. So if they trust us to do that, what's the difference in TRUSTING us to get the rest when we need it, without having some piece of paper to verify we aren't stupid?

Especially since there are already laws against killing someone with a semi truck.

LOL... You call it bragging. I call it Independence & Liberty. Something that seems to be lost in the trucking industry.

They have, and I don't believe them anymore than I believe the BS they spew in orientation.

I'm not sure what orientator or DOT revenuer gave you that info. But you only have to spend 8 consec. hours in your bunk. The other 2 you can go to line one.

My body tells me when I need to sleep. When I go on a trip in my car I don't need a log book to tell me I'm sleepy. Good point I think. When I hauled cattle for a living, I always thought it'd be nice to be able to convince my body and mind I actually slept the ten hours I was drawing in. Woulda been nice. Never was able to convince myself that much.

Funny how your body tells you when your sleepy and when to wake up... I guess the law makers dont have that capability.

I never use an alarm clock. I always wake up at about the same time every day. I get along just fine with about 5-6 hours sleep. I would love to see the log books and all this talk about EOBR's get thrown aside. None of it makes roads safer. All they do is provide some with a justification for their job. There is little common sense when it comes to hos. I have always felt that I have enough common sense to rest when tired and work when I am not. I understand that there will be those who push the envelope. That won't change. They can continue putting regulations on top of regulations and force everyone to put in an EOBR but it will NOT make roads any safer than if we didn't have anything like hos or log books. Those who are driving past the time that they should will continue doing the same thing regardless of regulations or laws. What the hos do is encourage people to push longer than they might otherwise do in order to keep a legal log.
