I'm getting crap from my local town council about driving my rig to my own home. There are no weight restrictions on my street, posted or otherwise. It's just petty small town spite behind it all, but I'd heard from another driver that there is a clause in the Highway Traffic Act that allows a driver to drive his rig to his own home regardless of residential street, weight limits, etc(my rig is never very heavy at the time I take it home).
Just wondering if anybody can back that up with anything specific? Would save me a ton of grief.
Rigs on residential streets

Most of the time it is controlled by the LOCAL BYLAWS , seems that you can have 5 beatup old race cars in the backyard , 2 school buses up on blocks in the driveway , a snowmobile on the lawn ( August ) , weeds waist high but NEVER BRING HOME YOUR tractor.

I remember a few years ago in a small town in On. This guy was the local petro canada dealer, and parked his truck at home.
Seems he tried to raise heck over a neighbour doing something he didnt like.....
Long story short, placcarded loads in residential areas dont fly with by-law enforcement. -
Uh, that would be a "no" on the Highway Traffic Act exemption. Municipalities generally have bylaws governing parking, so see if you can find out what they are.
Are you taking the truck and trailer home, or just the truck? If the former, that might be what they are getting up in arms about and, if so, see if you can drop the trailer somewhere else. Try and strike some kind of compromise. -
Where do you park your rig, in the front of your home, on the side, or in the back yard ? The reason I ask, I live on a acre and half and my home sits on the back, my city ordinence says I must park 300 feet from the street if I was to park in the front. The track homes on the other side of town don't allow any rigs, even in the back yard. Neighbors would complain that they stick out like a sore thumb. Think about it.

i live in north battleford, sk. we are allowed to bring our trucks home as long as 100% of it is parked on your property. not allowed dangerous goods or trailers or excess noise (long idle times)

#### i just heard about this in school a while back, there was something about not being allowed to park a commercial vehical requiring a class 1 liscense on your own property unless it was secured, fence, locked gate lights etc. I just looked for 20 min and cant find the paperwork on this but there was definitly something about it. as an OO you basically have to make urself a secured area to park it on ur own property legally.

How is Battleford these days? I lived there for nine months before I went to photo school, but that was more than a quarter century ago.
You raise an important point though...whether you can bring your truck home depends where you live. It's usually a municipal by-law. People need to check their local laws, not assume that somebody on the internet has the answer. -
n battleford is good. lots of rain. you wouldn't recognize it any more lots of development.
