Surfer Joe...I can confirm what Mikel says and I live in Florida. I go home about every 5 weeks which gives me 5 days home. Getting dispatched into Florida is easy, getting out usually takes to hops. With the difficulty getting out, it makes sense to not come home as often as I like but I make it meaningful by taking longer breaks at home.
For miles, I had 27000 last quarter. so that's 9000 per month and 2300 per week average. That was my first quarter in the business. I am getting better, quicker, managing time better and freight is up so I expect to see a 30k or better quarter. Hope this helps.
Good luck, be safe....Road Realtor

they just hired me about 2 weeks ago, and my "finisher" I did my 3,750 miles with said that in the 12 years of being a CFI/Con-Way Truckload driver he has never seen the company hire so many Florida drivers. He thinks something big is in the works!vmaggs Thanks this. -
I'm at a different terminal now and it kinda makes me laugh - drivers that just finished their first week here - yes, their first 5 days, were complaining about running 2004 trucks today on their 5'th day line-haul run out of 5 days of total employment - takes like 15 to 20 years of seniority here to hold a day line-haul bid at most locations that have it except mine. It all varies by location.. It really does.. I will give the the people you talked to in Chicopee a lot of credit for being dead honest about what they thought you'd be doing.. -
I would like to know if these drivers that are complaining if they where hired off the street or they from the sister company conway trkload? please can you let me know that is if you do know.. Thank you for you answer .. I really do need to know. Thanks

Those drivers should be thankful that they have a driving position...trying to get a local job here is near on impossible.
Conway Freight here advertises for a linehaul drivers, when you go to the interview they tell you that you will be doing city driving (P&D) and dockwork and they consider line haul runs are a privilege that needs to be earned and if you are lucky you might get to do a couple of 'extra' runs and the chances of getting a full-time line haul run could take years.
I'm sorry but when did driving line haul become a privilege and why advertise for line-haul drivers when in fact all they want is P&D drivers?...oh I know, no one wants to do P&D...~lol~ -
I didn't know that Con-way Freight was like that. I just started with Truckload a few weeks ago after bailing from CRST, and Con-Way Truckload seems to be scrambling hard to get drivers...But my end-goal was always to jump to Freight so I could be home more often than I am now.

Good luck. -
I just finished a week at "Boot Camp" at Crowder college as part of Con-Ways' training program. I am scheduled to leave with a "finisher" tommorrow. I must say, this company has taken very good care of me since I got here and I have noticed that they take very good care of their employees in general. I did alot of research as far as which company to go to work for and I am so glad that I chose this company.

Congrats and Welcome to the Con-Way Family! I have been with Con-Way Truckload for about a month, having previously driven for CRST, and I gotta tell ya, the difference between these two companies are night and day. Con-Way appreciates and caters to their drivers. Of course, as with any job, It's what you make of it, but for myself I am completely "gruntled" with this company. Again, Welcome and I'll see you out on the road or at a terminal sometime.
Surfer Joe Thanks this.
