You're not "reporting" until you get there. You're merely "on the way" to report. With your analogy even if you were driving your private vehilce you would be "reporting" for work and it would have to be logged regardless what vehicle you're driving.Last edited: Apr 24, 2011

Hey....Let's not cloud up the issue with facts.
-
they have got to be messin with you thats the most ridicuolus thing i ever heard of
-
I've seen Electronic logs that have a Line 5 which is specific: Driving - Off Duty. Which is used to cover private conveyance when you are bobtailing home, to a hotel etc. The mileage travelled in line 5 is totalled with the work miles for that particular day.
-
Of course they were, even personal conveyance has to be logged. Off duty- driving personal conveyance
-
I would think that would go without saying....
-
Yup, that'll do it.
If I'm off-duty and then drive my truck as personal conveyance, I don't change my duty status, but I do record the start mileage and my log is otherwise current. The driver only needs to show on-duty if fueling or performing any similar service.
Of course, I would never do that.

im not a local driver but if you are driveing your personal car sounds like they are yanking your chain but who knows that may be one of the new changes they are trying to push thu

So do i, which is why i ask what legitimate reasons could there be to bobtail OR/AND tow an empty trailer to the terminal besides being under direction or dispatch?
The drivers i know were cited at the 295 scale at carney's pt. NJ while going to the jevic terminal from home.
One legit reason may be you've decided to quit and you are turning the equipment in---you're not getting paid for this.
