I have spent nearly an hour looking for this question before posting.
    Respectfully

I am in Dallas, Texas and want to get just cheap deadhead insurance. No load.
Just the truck it self with no trailer.
I heard 500 to 600 a year and this sounds good.

Anyone know of a place to get some cheap insurance?

I spoke to farmers and explained several times "insurance for the truck only NO trailer" they came back with a million dollar policy that was going to be 560 a month.
The company I am going to work for has a policy that I will get on with but would like my own deadhead insurance.

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.
Today I got my D.O.T. numbers from D.O.T. Authority.com any idea when it will go into effect?

I just spent nearly all of my savings buying a Peterbilt.
Now I am hoping to find loads in the State of Texas.

    Steve in Dallas,Texas

Maybe getting your own insurance won't be the best option. Have you looked into other owner operator opportunities through other companies?

I have insurance for my truck through Liberty Northwest. '89 pete 379 with a 63' terex boom mounted to it, I don't pull a trailer. The insurance covers both for a million, on the road or while using the crane. $1321 for the year.
