Great--and I wish you all the luck in the world--the one thing I will add though is the replacement part of the surgery--I also spent over a year doing the conservative thing--course didn't work LOL--and the only thing that really convinced me to go ahead with the replacement--is all 3 doc's told me--I was only a candidate for it for so long a period of time. Not that they forced me or said now or never--but they all agreed that the longer my(ruptured)disc sstayed wrapped around the (spinal)cord the worse things would get--AND--that over time as the vertebrae degenerate(from lack of cushion) the vertabrae become too weak to support the replacement and therefore the only recourse is fusion--which we both know is not as good an option--either way good luck and best wishes to you!:biggrin_25519:

As mentioned, talk to your Dr. I am surprised you were not given a diet suggestion sheet as a guideline to what foods to avoid. My triglycerides and bad cholesterol were through the roof at one point a couple years ago. Went on Tricor, Plavix, Crestor, Metropolol, and Lisinopril and was given a list of foods to stay away from and it has all helped. Your Dr will have a foods list..just ask for it if he/she hasn't offered it already. Most things that are tasty and you really like won't be on the list probably...its the root cause of why you're messed up now. Healthy food and healthy eating ain't fun..at least not for me but sometimes we have to do what we have to do lol. A truckers forum ain't the best place in the world to ask for medical advice, take it to your Dr.....

Tell me about it. I can do many things in this world, but trying to get my health in check is soooooo confusing. There are 500 ideas on the right way. Which one do you pick?

One post that really made sense is by Trade Up

Went to the doctors on Saturday and had blood drawn again. The last time (back in Feb.) my Triglycerides was at 442 and my cholesterol was at 226.:biggrin_2553:. Good news, My results this time are Tryglycerides 120 and Cholesterol 180 :biggrin_25514:. The change I made on my diet was NO FRIED FOODS to start out with, I cut back on the soda pop, I ate more chicken than red meat, At the buffets I would start out with all the veggies and ceasar lettuce so by the time I hit the meats I would be full. I stay away mostly anything that had sugar. I still ate out alot but chose the places that had no fried foods. I mostly went to places that had rotisserie chicken or grilled. I still had a burger here and there but no Fries. I cut all junk foods, like chips and cookies, candy. So for you out there who have this problem, IT CAN BE DONE.:biggrin_25525:

The fruit thing makes sense. I also have high cholesterol and was put on medication. I have been trying to loose weight so I resorted to eating fruit for snacks because it's suppose to be healthy. Now I have high triglycerides.

I was eating about 4 oranges a day thinking i was doing my body well and found out it was to much SUGAR, so I stop. Now I watch how much fruits I eat now.

    Dave,
Great job on getting your numbers down. Was this all diet or did you also take a med?

It was both, I was taking Pravastatine 20mg already when my triglycerides where high but not watching my diet, so I had to change my diet as well so the Pravastatine would work correctly and I took it at before bedtime when before I would take it during the day.
