Recieved this from a well-placed person who is in a position to know what is stated here.

    ************************************

For all those who think the Sun shines out of Jack's bottom end....

The basic facts are as follows.

Layton and his wife Olivia Chow both sat on Toronto City Council for years before making the move to federal politics. While on City Council, they were making $100,000 a year. They used a fraudulent scheme to get into subsidized housing. What they did was register the house in the name of Chow's mother who was an unemployed immigrant. In this way, they lived for years in a taxpayer funded house while being paid $100,000 yearly from taxpayers. They only moved when a reporter exposed the story.

The real irony is that Chow styled herself as an advocate for the homeless on City Council.

It astounds me that the media never mention this. It was theft, pure and simple.

Today, Layton and Chow earn $350,000 together as MPs. They each get a housing allowance for living in Ottawa although they live together. According to House of Commons records for 2010, they spent one million dollars last year on travel and perks. Because they're MP's there is no detail. When asked, Layton said that most of it was for travel back to Toronto to visit their constituents. That comes out to $20,000 a week for travel. Toronto is 300 miles from Ottawa. Again, it's theft, pure and simple.

But speaking of simple, NDP loyalists see Jack and Olivia as the working man's friends. The simplistic media play up this image. Simplistic Canadians give Jack a free ride on trust.

Now the other night during the big debate Jack had the nerve to say we don't need more jails because all the crooks are already in the Senate. I think we better make Jack a Senator!

    Cheers.

Thanks to Saint Jack its costing millions for this election !!!!

    Think before you vote ..............

The media has, this old story has come out a couple times, they lived in a mixed income co-op. Layton, as a councillor was a strong proponent and advocate of something called mixed-income co-ops. That meant housing that included every socioeconomic level, from those living in poverty and receiving a rent subsidy to those paying full market value for their lodging. The idea behind them was to create a viable alternative to ghettoizing those with low-income in a segregated neighbourhood. They were a great idea; unfortunately, most, if not all, ended when Paul Martin pulled federal money out of the program in 1996. Layton and Chow paid full market value for their coop unit. Believing in mixed-income communities, Jack put his money where his mouth was and lived in one himself, because without people paying full value, the co-op experiment would not have had a chance.

While I agree that is too much also, but other MP's have taken advantage of it too. The Conservative MP for South Surrey – White Rock – Cloverdale racked up $637,093 on his expense account for the 2008-2009 fiscal year – more than $200,000 more than the national average. If you have a job at a company and you want your family or children to travel with you, you pay for it out of your own pocket not out of the company pocket. If you want to keep your family together maybe you should have found a different job.

Michael Ignatieff called Jack Layton over to his office one day and said,"Jack, I have a plan to win over Alberta!"

"Great idea , but how?" asked Jack.

"We'll go to WalMart, get some Western clothes and boots like most Albertans wear
then stop at the pound and pick up a Labrador dog. When we look the part, we'll go to a nice old country bar in Calgary and show them how much admiration and respect we have for the hard working people living there."

So they did, and found just the place they were looking for in Calgary .

With the dog in tow they walked inside and stepped up to the bar.

The Bartender took a step back and said, "Aren't you Michael Ignatieff and Jack Layton?"
"Yes we are," said Michael, "And what a lovely city you have here. We were passing

through and Jack suggested we stop and take in some local color."

They ordered a round of Canadian on the house and started chatting up a storm with anyone who would listen. A grizzled old farmer came in, walked up to the Labrador ,

lifted its tail and looked underneath, shrugged his shoulders and walked out.

A few moments later, in came another old rancher. He walked up to the dog, lifted its tail, looked underneath, scratched his head and left the bar.

For the next hour, another dozen farmers and ranchers came in,
lifted the dog's tail, and left looking puzzled. Finally, Michael asked, ”why did all those old farmers and ranchers come in and look under the dog's tail?

Is it some sort of custom?"

"Lord no," said the bartender. "It's just that someone told them there was a Labrador in here with two asssholes!"

"they saw an attractive 5-foot-10 Asian woman who was in her mid-20s and the married, then-Metro councillor, lying on his back in bed.":biggrin_2559: Olivia Chow, Layton's wife, denied her husband had done anything wrong
    :biggrin_25526:

Of course she forgot to mention it was likely 1 of her relatives that imigrated to Canada.

I was in Ontario during the LIVE debate on TV , Jack pointed out the fact had it not been for CANADAS lax imigration laws his Mother in law would not be here living with them.
