Hello, I am on my second week at CDI, IN. Had prehires from Werner, TMC, Swift, and Covenant. Don't want flatbed, and the rest I know from comments aren't real good. I am looking at USA-Truck out of Vandilia, OH. perhaps, but I know I'll get more prehires.

Any one working there or know of them? Newbie looking for advice..:biggrin_25514:

Well you listed all the ones that I would not want to drive for. Of all you listed TMC would be my choice. TMC is flatbed.

You might like USA Truck. I worked there for 2 months before going to A.D. Transport. Reason for leaving is they would not give me enough miles and all my runs was averaged at 5-600 miles. This calculated to no money for me. It seemed they would give student drivers more miles because they made less money. I am experienced and made 38cents a mile. Also there trucks are nice internationals but very poorly equipped. Governed at 63 mph is very aggervating when a swift truck can pass you. I vowed to never work for a company that hires or trains recruits with no experience ever again.

I do not remmember your name but probably would recognize you. My name is Ron T. I worked for JWA CTI from 2005 to 2007. I seen lots of new people come and go there. At least they were smart enough to leave right away. I stayed because of making good money in Cleveland terminal. When you become good friends with people who had power you can make things happen there. That is until they get fired for no reason at all.

I started with CRST training in Michigan. This was in 1995 when my construction buisness went belly up. I allready had exp. in truckdriving but no legal exp. My father drove for allied van lines for 22 years and danny herman for 6 years. He was the care free type and tought me how to drive when I was about 12-13 years of age.

i am thinking about joining the trucking industry, but i wonder if it will be a wise choice. There seems to be a lot of resentment here towards new drivers. My thinking is we all gotta start somewhere to get our experience.People that have the knowledge and experience should look at it as an honor to share that with new drivers.I am surprised that you would vow to never work anywhere that hires new people or trains recruits.I believe at some point someone trained you and hired you probably with little or no experience.Nobody wakes up or is born with experience.

The reason why some drivers don't want to work for companies that hire fresh CDL's is they pay better. They also usually have a better REP than a training co. and some want to have others on the road not question if they are a newbie or not. Also there is not the feeling that the good miles will be given to someone who will make the run cheaper since they are getting newbie pay.

Don't get me wrong. I know everyone has to start somewhere, I am just saying that student companies have no respect for exp. drivers and they have no place for them. It seems they will dispatch a student driver before a exp. driver because of the cpm. ratio between the two. When you get more exp. and if you decide to make this your career then you might understand. I wish lots of luck to newbies and would be the first one to help one out.
