No this is not the way trucking is!! Reading stuff like this is not what trucking is all about. I just hope this young man learned a lesson here. He was taught the wrong way, Period. So, dont go getting any Idea, we all do things like this. This forum does not encourage ANY ILLEGAL acts like this driver has performed. He was on his own, and made BAD decisions. Maybe later we can ALL help him become a better driver.

haha, well Mr. Wargames, I have no point to argue. I did wrong, I broke plenty of laws, I'm just glad I got out with a clean record, I run about 10 hours a day now and im happy as pie. I will say that having time to get a good nights sleep is GREAT!

    Wargames and Meltom Thank this.

I find this post amusing for several reasons. Most drivers have come to believe that laws made by a group of elected officials and the general public, who have never been behind the wheel of a semi, make the roads and drivers safer. If this were true then a majority of the truck wrecks in the country would happen only because someone did not follow a law.
You have also decided that a cdl means that the driver has been trained, and without a cdl there is no way the individual could be a good driver.
We also seem to believe that the taxes (trucks pay around 40% of all road taxes) we pay have anything to do with repairing the roads, or the damage that is done due to how heavy they are. Taxes for roads are put in the general fund in most places, and if anything is left after everyones pet projects, then someone pays to fill a pothole.
weigh stations are for revenue not safety, If you believe differently then there is little help for you.
Life is a terminal std, none of us are immune. Anything can happen, even if you wrapped the whole world in bubble wrap, someone would find a way to choke on it.
That being said, I personally do not run illeagle , I follow all my companies rules. It is not morality just a cost analysis.
We all have to make our own choices, and to be honest, unless it affects you personally I do not see how it would even concern anyone else

Fmcsa won't do ####. I tried turning in my company for running us illegal and they did nothing. They are a joke and useless unless it benefits their pockets

This is an old post but it sounds like the op was just as guilty as the employer he wasn’t fired because he refused to run illegal he was fired because the boss found out he was looking for other employment that’s not illegal.
