My question is if you are leased with a company are we required as O/O
to put that efile log on your truck. Or is it going to become mandatory that
you have it. I am being told that by june 30 of this year every body has to have or else.
efile log

The company will more than likely make you put them in. The deadline is June 4, 2012 for at risk carriers along with eobr. The rest of the carriers have 3 years from that date to comply (as long as they don't become "at risk")

This part is just proposed. If it becomes mandated then you will have the legal battle. This will be decided by the courts and it is far from certain.

I am using an EOBR in my truck, due to carrier mandating it. It hasn't really been that bad of a deal. BUT I am against a government mandate. Government always has a way of screwing things up. If a carrier chooses to use one or not, cool. And we all know, since this is not a "one size, fits all" business, a mandate on EOBR for everyone would not be pretty. I can see it now.... cattle dying in a stock trailer because the driver could not get them delivered as just one of many scenarios that can be problematic due to a blanket EOBR mandate. Wow! We could even get PETA involved in this mess! Not everyone pulls a van, a reefer, or a skate board, much to the surprise of some idiot in the FMCSA.
Sad thing is, it will probably be mandated. And then all the money that will be wasted, the court time that is wasted, etc trying to fight the darn thing.
What a racket!Bucktrucker Thanks this. -
I'm independent and if they gave it to me then fine. But having to pay for it when I don't run enough miles or hours to even have to worry about cheating just gets me.
