I was wondering if anyone has had problems getting dental work done before a drug test?

I will need to be injected with what ever they use to numb you up before I get my dental work done.

I am worrined about testing postive on the drug screen from the stuff that the doc uses I can allways plan to do it another day if needed.

I do not want to be DQ'd before I even have a chance to get on the road.

If I do get the dental work done should I get a signed letter stating what he used on me for the work would that be sufficent to the tester?

I don't believe the injection you will get has any narcotics in it. Ask the dentist, he should be able to answer that question.
If you fail a drug test you can then tell the doctor (which will call you to inform you that you failed) what happened. If you are on any drugs trust me the test will come back negative for that drug and the dental is no exscuse. Now the dentist might give you pain meds, you show proof of the script and that exscuses the negative test, however you can't drive the truck until you are completely done taking them (not sure on that whole process).

I have had a good amount of dental work while driving OTR. To cover your butt you should make sure that you get a detailed list of what the dentist gave you. Also voice your concerns to the dentist before the work is done. Some times they will alter what they would normally give you if you where any one else. Every dentist I have dealt with was more then happy to help me out and every one of them thanked me for being concerned about what goes into my body before I drive 'such a big vehicle'. For at least the next month keep those papers with you at all times. This way if you are called in for a random drug screen you can give the papers to the person conducting the test and they can note any thing that might show up so you don't fail it. Also make sure your company knows exactly what you where giving as well so this doesn't come as a shock later. Hope this helps.

    thanks for the advice
I have an appointment on the 10th and go to orentation on the 16th that is why I am so worried so close togeather I was taking clindamycin prescribed by the doc but that was from the 19th to the 26th so that should be gone from the system by then.

I really do not see Novocaine showing on a drug screen. Drug screens are pretty specific in what they are looking for.

I actually had dental work done with Novocaine before work.

GOT to work and had to take a random drug test which is nothing new for around here.

I just told them I had dental work done and the nurse said to not worry about it.

    Never heard anything after that.

Absolutely nothing your dentist will give you will cause you to fail a drug test. Don't worry about it. You can also take pain meds the he prescribes and be ok. Just take the bottle will you to orientation. Most of the time those won't show up either but take it with you just to be on the safe side.

Will be no problem. They will ask you questions such as dental work on your drug screen pre-app.

Just tell them about the dental work. Drug Screens are pretty specifically looking for certain things - just be honest, don't try and cover up something else with the "dental" thing. We used to have people come up with all kinds of things to explain why we would "find" something in the screening. The ones who used to start "explaining" different situations before we even did the test, where the ones we knew where going to fail!:biggrin_2559:
