Yea i felt like i done the right thing . And all the other employees seen what happened so i don't think they will be getting anymore notice's. I did get my pay today and they did pay me for the vacation time i had left. So just wanted to say that.

I work for a small company and in our handbook it says you can have an abandonment put on your record if you don't give a notice. That don't seem right to me.

Not necessarily, if it's in your contract and you signed underneath is a 100% legal.

Drivers do not sign contracts and there is no legal way that vacation pay cannot be paid.

If there was, the accounting firm I worked many years in management would have gladly avoided it.

Some drivers do. Depends on the company. They also sign the rule book, and if under the rules it's clearly stated that you have to give 2 weeks notice and if you don't you will lose your vacation time.... benefits.... or what ever the company attorneys came up with.

Any company that tries that with me, will quickly LEARN the law.

    The attorney will also.

They will sell there soul for a buck.

I read the laws for years and learned much on my own.

Uh huh..... both sides indeed. So here's what I did...... made my new deal and asked "if I need to, can I start right away? " If yes, I offer old 2 weeks but expect to get starved or fired, if no, no notice. Seen to many honest professional drivers be let go for giving a notice.

That is good, but you have no idea how many ppl I know that don't bother reading what they are signing.
Some ppl give up their rights voluntarily I guess :)
