does anyone know how many PSI that I can safely increase my turbo boost by without having to adjust fuel / injectors.

you only need enough boost to burn all the diesel.

point taken and agreed with. hey donk-just to fill u in on the reason for my question. I have on my 4WD a turbotech turbo boost controller which changes the way that the acuator works on the turbo, what it does is it holds the gate shut until u reach the set max psi and then opens, where as the gate normally progreeivly opens, which in a nut shell means that u start to build psi much lower in the RPM )turbo boost comes on quick and turbo lag is eliminated. the manufactor/designer is a Aussie and he has given me a free version 2 of the turbotech that is suitable for trucks and asked if i could test it in the real world for him, so i thought while im installing it i might just increase the psi a little bit (2psi to 5psi). in my 4WD it used to start building psi at 1400rpm and with the turbotech it starts building psi at 800rpm

I could see that extra boost just coming from your WG not being tight enough. If you tightend up the actuator on it you would get that boost back. I would not be worried about your turbo pushing to much boost or anything because it will only push as much boost as its getting for fuel/heat. In order to increase boost you need more fuel and heat, thats pretty much what I am trying to say.

tell me if im wrong, from what you said the vacumm on the acuator must be controlled by the ECM ? because on a non computer engine the turbotech will allow me to increase the boost by as much as 20psi without resetting the fuel-adjustment screw. (but of cause without adjusting fuel screw the engine wouldn't last very long)

will be interesting to see how you go, cause the ecm will have a derate point set in it as well..

i wouldnt worry about extra boost unless you throw extra fuel, but earlier crossing of the boost threshold can ( not always ) be a good thing. Just beware of surge.

If it sounds like a VL turbo turkey gobble when your accelerating, its building boost too fast.

im unsure of if this can be done, but it pays to be cautious with cumins spares ludicrous pricings.

thanks for the info, I think my starting point will be to keep the pre-set cummins max boost psi setting, and just let the turbotech do it's thing, because if it works like the one of have on my 4WD even that change will make a vast improvement. Will keep you updated, i most likely will post a new thread. my trails maybe a few weeks away because im waiting on a turbo boost gauge from the USA and need to install it before installing the turbotech. talk again soon
