it's not that they aren't clean. they are for the most part. I really run into very few unclean showers these days compared to days gone by. It's just that they never dry out, so things grow. you never step into even the cleanest truckstop shower without shower shoes. back in the day when I started trucking it took me 4 years to get my feet cleared up because I just didn't know any better then. back then there was still communal showers. nobody these days would ever use something liek that, to many fruits runign around now

Speaking of showers, do they have hot water or will I have to suffer with a cold shower?

i guess none of you were in the military back in the day. i remember basic training sinks on the outside of both walls and 2 rows of toilets down the middle, you had to shave with someone watching your behind, or crap watching someone shave, and had conversation with the next guy over, shower were all open with shower heads sticking out of the walls. i have more naked man tail than i want to remember, lol

i have showered under a garden hose behind a repair shop. and when ya need a shower that pallet and head sticking out the wall were pretty good.

things have improved greatly, i find it funny when some guys today complain about the state of the truckstops.

THe larger chains offer the cleanest showers. I have been to some of the mom and pops places that had showers in the mens bathroom. Just a shower stall either with a stall door or a curtain. They still wanted anywhere from 5 to 8 bucks for the use of a towel.lol...I looked at one once and went back to the counter asked the girl when was the last time they were cleaned, her response, "what do you mean?"

Most of the big chain (TA, Petro, Pilot, Etc) have boilers to supply unlimited hot water. Wouldn't be good to have all 10 showers full and the water heater go dry... Pilot's seem to have the HOTTEST Water. SCALD You Hot Water.

I've showered in the middle of nowhere with a gallon of water on the catwalk... Gotta do what ya gotta do... Most drug stores and Mall-Worts sell "Adult Wipes" that are a great option if a shower is not available. $2-3 for a box of 75 large wipes does come in handy...

Idaho has some good ones; another one is the Dad's/Sinclair just south of Idaho Falls, ID (exit 113). The showers are large, all slate with overhead "rainfall" showerheads.
