Where are you people hearing these stories? Just be careful and you will be fine.

 

I have only met one person who was complaining about stuff being stolen and that was a US driver who told me that he had some stuff stolen out of his truck while it was in the shop... Most truckers look after one another in the parking lots and if they see someone fiddling around behind trailers of trying to get in a truck the Wrong way. will call cops to do a cruse through the parking lot or get the security guard from inside I've seen and called the police myself..

shut your truck off and if you lock your doors, when you get out or even when fueling you shouldn't have anything stolen..

::EDIT:: if you still want to get an alarm system its the same as installing it on a car, i suggest you check out the Audiovox APS 996, thats what i got on my firebird, there is probably a newer model by now but its a Great alarm... it comes with Auto Start, Climate Control, and Auto lock for your doors, it also has a 2 way pager with LCD screen that works up to 2,500 feet away and has a small alarm inside the pager to alert you when your truck alarm is going off... its a great alarm...but i just dont think you need it.. but its all up to you

 

nope i drive a company truck, it would be pointless to put an alarm system on it and they probably wouldn't even let me do it.... about the only types i have heard of are company related break ins, i take my truck home so i don't have to worry about that, and about the only time you may experience a break in is someone trying to steal something from your trailer...i haven't seen any trucks broken into

 

Sprints Air card is the best for speed and Coverage. Mine is almost as fast as dsl or cable int.
