Good suggestions. I would, however, mention that you are more likely to be using the spray in an enclosed area, therefore you might want to rethink the "spray vs. gel" argument you made above. A spray is as likely to disable you as it is your attacker if you're in a confined space (i.e. your truck, in-between trailers, etc.). Also, sprays have a shorter "range" or length of spray vs. gels.

You bring up a good point. If you are in you truck spraying someone in your truck you are going to get hit hard too. Out side shouldn't be that big of a deal. In any situation you are going to get a little on you. Its just the nature of the beast. My personal problem with the Gels and Foam is they don't spread over the attacker very well. What I mean is that of you spray and only get him in the chest with the foam then as long as he doesn't touch it its not going to stop him. It doesn't seep threw cloths well. But the liquid will seep right in and at least start burning his chest and some over spray will have gotten him in the face. I'm not sure on spray distance as I never really focused on that. I can tell you a good can in a Police size should give you at least an accurate 10' stream. If I remember right the MK4 will get you more like 14'. What ever you get make sure to test fire it so you know its effective range.

Any way you go the best thing you can do after you slow someone down is you get away. Run, drive, what ever it takes. Remember there is nothing in your trailer worth sticking around and dieing for.:biggrin_25525:

That's something not mentioned yet. A dog (just about any breed you like) is probably the best protection for your truck that you can have. Even a small, yippy, shaky Chihuaha is a good deterrent for would-be thieves.

A dog isn't always practical, of course, which is why we discuss other alternatives. :)

One response out of all the rest deserves follow-up. All the clubs, knives, sprays and pure brute strength will be useless against the fool out there with a gun. The best advice is to stay out of those areas where it is most likely you will have problems with your personal safety.

I've delivered in the really dangerous parts of several major cities, and I always followed one rule: NEVER AT NIGHT!!! Truck stops are generally safer than roadside ramps and rest areas.
