I have spent the past couple of hours here at the T/A in Jessup MD listening to drivers while they ate,and reading reading countless posts on CSA2010.My conclusion after reading what we have on CSA2010 and comments made is very clear,,,WE NEED A UNIFIED VOICE!
The events of the past week or so in Egypt have shown me that a UNIFIED VOICE can and eventually will persuade things to change, for the most part the demostrations were "civil",as in the case of CSA2010 there is no need of any violence just a UNIFIED VOICE!
There are countless posts on here and other about "We need to Strike"(you fill in the date),or you need to join OOIDA,TCA,TEamsters,no we need but a UNIFIED VOICE!(If you are a part of these organizations that is well and fine if it fits you btw) but all I am saying is we need to approach this in a "UNIFIED VOICE" much like the CSA2010 determined a unified set of rules to manage as "THEY" saw fit.
We as "Over The Road" drivers for the most part will be impacted the most by this new sweeping reform legitslation are without a voice,(yes before you rant about again joining the above said groups) We dont have a UNIFIED VOICE! lawmakers and YOUR companys see you as a individual and nothing more.
So,with all that being said what can we do?I will throw the following up for comment and consideration(Plz respond with concise well thought out remarks and ideas, thnx)
1.Face Book;ok there are a few pages about this on there already.I plan to open a new page and all im looking for is total membership to the page.My goal is to have at least a million "friends to this page(Remember the idea is a UNIFIED VOICE) We have to show the FMCSA,YOUR Companys, and the public that we as drivers understand the need for Safety but in the same breath we need our voice herd and respected too.
2.When membership takes off we take our concerns to the media,we have to have the media and folks watching the tube on our side
These are but a couple of ideas or we can sit on our hands and take what they slap on the wall and obide by the new rules
A grassroots effort on the internet would just be a start,as we are out-gunned in the aspect these new rules will constantly justified by the simple facts they gleen from roadside inspection(only the bad ones)
