I'm going to become a team driver and I'm confused about the way I'll be paid. If my co-driver and I make a 1200 mile trip, are we each paid for 600 miles or are we both paid for the full 1200?

It depends upon the company you work for.

Normally, the truck makes, lets say, .44 per mile. That would be split 50/50. So each driver would make .22 per mile for all miles, whether or not they are driving. To make it even more simple, a 2000 mile run, paying .44 per mile to the truck, would mean $880 gross. (to the truck). Each driver gets $440 gross. A decent team can turn 6000 miles a week easily, if the company has the freight. Some companies can manipulate drivers pay, so be aware. Some companies pay a flat rate, like an East Coast turn might pay $2600 flat to the truck and that would be split 50/50. Also, another tidbit of info for you, a seasoned lead driver on a team run could make the split something like 55/45.
