I guess 24 years hasn't taught you much, but eastern will teach you how to bend-over buddy. When I worked for them they bought my company out, a great company but owner was to busy with women and gambling it cost him the company. When eastern took over it was night and day they had work alright and they had to join the union so, we were protected to say the least. But they started getting real greedy and got theirself in a real bind with the courts& western gillettte who was sueing them, after all was said and done a dispatcher got blown up a mob guy went to jail and they filed chapter 11 now, their back and nose candy shevell jr. is on a mission to bend you over make no mistakebuddy he will . I have no reason to BS you I'm retired and gettin my 3K pension a month so goodluck to you nemf, eastern their all the same watchout thats all I can say.

Lets just have a little talk, i work for eastern frieghtways and i find your views a little alarming. But first let me qualify myself. I come from a truck driving family, am a certified master mechanic and am a truck driving school graduate with 2.5 million miles accident free miles and counting. I run team coast to coast with my wife who now has 8 months otr. Eastern allowed me to train her after she got the run around with crst schooling. The problem i see here is that some of you newer people can't keep the left door closed long enough to get from point a to point b. Did someone tell you truck driving was easy? Well guess what, my wife's take home pay last week was 1158.00. Did she work for it? Yes she did. So before you bad mouth my company, why don,t you try keeping your left door closed and your mouth shut. If you can't do these things may i suggest ballroom dancing??

You have not been around longer than me or my family in trucking as my grandfather opened his first blacksmith shop in the early 20,s which later turned into a truckstop where i worked starting at age 13. I did not have to go to truck driving school you idiot, i chose to. And mechanics are not the biggest problem, they just get tired of idiots like you. So like i said pal, go try ball room dancing, trucking is not for lightweights like you!!

I work for Eastern and have no complaints....people who want to be coddled should go get a job working for the state. Drivers that complain about everything GET nothing. I get 2200 to 2500 every week plus P/U, Tarp, stop off pay ect. Family medical is $50 a week(last company was $200 a week). Sure you get the city every few weeks so what, you work in the Northeast. You are hired to do a job, you are a company driver you go and do as you are told. The worst companies I have worked for were union...hostile to say the least. I have been treated with the utmost professional attitude and when issues have arose they were solved to a satisfactory agreement by all involved. When you keep a good attitude you get a better return!

you know , for someone who says they have been around trucking for as long as you say you have been around , WHY ARE YOU WORKING FOR THESE SCUMBAGS You should be driving a brand new truck with the best company in the USA or you should have your own authority making good money . I love the way so many drivers love to lie , You think everyone is stupid . If your family and you have been in this business for so long , there was NO REASON for you to have to go to driving school. You should have been able to just go right down to DMV take you written and road test and get on down the road .
As far as Eastern , they are noting but a bunch of filthy low life scumbags who care NOTHING about you , your family or anything having to do with you . Your a sheep . I dont care if you are a company driver or not , its not about DO WHAT YOUR TOLD . I dont play that game . I am a grown man . You and so many others have not figured out that driving a truck does not mean you jump in the seat when the alarm goes off and drive every minute of 11 hours , jump in the bunk and go to sleep just so you can make a crap pay check . Its not hard to see that you like being on your knees under the bosses desk . Eastern has garbage equipment , you have to fight to get things fixed , the pay SUCKS not one of those idiots in that office has a clue to what driving a truck is about , none of them have ever been behind the wheel .
I just laugh when I see and hear drivers talk about "oh I have 1miilion accident free miles ,I'm a professional " if we are "professionals" why are we paid like professionals . As a matter of fact the only reason why they call us professionals is so they can hold us to a higher standard and wack us with higher fines .And for those of you 1 million mile accident free "PROFESSIONALS" if you think for one minute that you are not going to have your PSP destroyed with this CSA2010 crap, you better put the crack pipe down . ESPECIALLY driving for Eastern .
As far as your comment about mechanics , when you take your truck into that shop and tell them there is a problem, I dont give a dam what it is , FIX IT ... no excuses just FIX THE DAM TRUCK .
Your not a truck driver , YOUR A EASTERN FREIGHTWAYS SHEEP .I would not allow them to heard me around and thats why they hated me and I hate them .
There are a lot of post on here from drivers who worked for Eastern and what they are telling you is the truth , so if you choose to sit here and lie about how good this company is , go right ahead . But we know the truth , we lived it .And if your a o/o driving for these scumbags your about as stupid as the day is long .
It wont be long before they are putting you 6 feet in the ground because you ran your self to death .So dont sit here and call smart people LIGHTWEIGHTS because we choose do not be sheep . I can run and have run with the BEST and it wasnt long before I opened eyes and realized I was killing myself for NOTHING .Ask some of the guys who have been there for a while about what happen to Ray . He is a perfect example of a sheep and now he is paying the price .Thats if he is still alive . .Hope you enjoy paying for his brats wedding. BAAAA BAAAAA

Looks like some people will never be happy where they go! Life sucks, transportation really sucks...if everywhere you go sucks maybe looking at ones self is in the cards?

I have nothing bad to say about anyone I have worked for with the exception of LJK. That was thier own doing not mine. You take the good with the bad and if you can't keep up then I suggest you find a desk job!

Eastern like most other companies have it's good and bad points. For myself I am happy here and would suggest it to someone who is willing to WORK for a living....for the earth will inherit the meek!:biggrin_25518:

So basically because many people have been screwed over for their Hard WORK by eastern this company man thats being taken care of for miles that many other don't get is saying that we don't and have never really worked and that we're coddled. I think the only coddling is the elite that the dispatchers pick out and give the miles too and give the crappy little mile runs to, that usually involve more work than its worth. I've been WORK'ing since I was 11, been in the Corps drove for over 10yrs, and one thing I do know is I have a strong work ethic, and that eastern was great 5yrs ago then the following year then after that it went to #### and from what I'm hearing even with this ####### of a new manager is still ####, well except for those few of the chosen ones. If your getting good miles and happy I'm sure out of the many and I mean many that I've talked to over past 2yrs your part of an elite that smooth talking and ### kissing to get there. Sorry I have my dignity, and if my hard work and loyalty doesn't show for those nimrods then let the elite hold that crappy company together. I'm sure their constant revolving door of losing drivers shows something about the company. And I feel for the sorry saps that join that company now, the lies, the games that go on inside that office is ridiculous. Its not about keeping up, its about getting tired of children in the office abusing their position and thinking they're better than the people that are the backbone of the operation. Dispatchers don't need certificates, don't need diplomas nor degrees, they're a dime a dozen. But as for a driver you can only have so many accidents, so many tickets, you need hazmat for some places, you need a cdl, and anymore places will only take you if you went to a school for driving. So with that being said I think the drivers should be treated alittle bit more better than they do (and I mean all the drivers just not you eastern elitists) for past few years by Eastern.
And look at the record seems too be more negatives than positives here so there must be some grain of truth to the claims!!

    There will always be disgruntled drivers no matter which company is being discussed. The fact is Eastern has been growing lately. They have added reefers, flatbeds, and owner ops to the mix. They recently gave all the new hires a .02 cpm raise. The medical insurance premiums are pretty low compared to what other companies are charging as well. Family coverage with an rx plan is $50.00 per week. Of course you are free to go to the horses mouth and review the package yourself rather than accept my word for it;

    http://easternfreightways.com/efw-van_driver_recruitment_package.pdf

I have been employed with this company for 10 years. There have been some issues regarding pay (a 5% reduction plus loss of monthly safety bonuses) and loss of routes due to the economy (Harrisburg Pa to California turns and Harrisburg Pa to Miami Florida turns which killed my earnings while running team with my wife). Couple the 5% pay reduction with the loss of a monthly safety bonus and our pay was cut by 7%. Factor in the increases in insurance premiums and that equates to a 10% overall reuction in pay. Of course it has been about 3+ years now since our wages were frozen so we lost out on raises there too.

Do I like these reductions in my pay??? OF COURSE NOT!!! I don't know of anyone that enjoys a pay cut. In my opinion, It is rather short sighted of management to reward new drivers with a .02 cpm pay increase and ignore the senior drivers that have rode out the tough times but maybe someday the head honchos will figure it out. I am hopeful that someday the company will institute a longevity bonus such as other carriers currently offer. Something like; stay 5 years and get a $10,000.00 bonus. Since they took away the monthly safety bonuses they could fund such a program rather easily.

As a senior driver with this company it does bother me that they can spend money for new equipment (flatbeds, reefers, and trucks) before restoring the pay that was taken away from the drivers as well as office workers.
In the meantime I keep my mouth shut (most of the time anyway) and do what I am told, collect my paycheck, and go home on the weekends.

As for all the complaints about small bunk trucks and weak engines they were/are true. As a matter of fact I drove some of them for several years myself and made do with what I had. The fleet is slowly being upgraded and the older equipment is being sold off.

I guess it all depends on what you are looking for in a job. Personally, I expect regular routes, steady pay, and home on the weekends. I get that (most of the time) so I stay.
