Sorry, I just saw your post. I can't offer any new info on CRS since I haven't been with them in over a year. My advice is this;
Their school is there to teach you the knowledge and skills you need to obtain your CDL. Listen to the instructors and follow their rules. If you have a question, ask!
Your trainer will teach you the skills you need to run a truck. This includes driving and backing, qualcomm work, trip sheets, bills of lading, trip planning, how to conduct yourself at customers, etc. They should help give you an idea of how you want to run your truck once you are on your own. While on their truck, do what they tell you to do, and be respectful. If you can't get a grasp on something, ask them to explain it in a different way. If you have a question, ask!
Personally, I beleive most, not all, horror stories are exaggerated. There are bad trainers out there. But from what I've seen at CRS they are few and far between. If you find yourself in an uncomfortable situation, let the trainer know. If you feel you can't speak to the trainer, call the training dept.
Trucking is a difficult/different lifestyle. People experience different levels of culture shock. There will be good days, and bad days. Unfortunately, we tend to remember the bad over the good. Hold your head high, you can do this! Good luck! Oh, if you have a question, ASK!

Seriiously your trainer is supposed to teach you how to do things Central's way. During orientation you will be given a training book. Make sure your trainer actually makes you do it all.
You can ask for a new trainer if need be.. -
Hello All, Yep another newbie here. My boyfriend and I went through TDA in Sacramento in Dec 2010 and did our trainer time together and are now on the road. I see a class mate and his wife on here.
