What kid of boost psi do you see at 60, in top gear, level ground?
4-6 psi should be where you want to be for good mpg.

Aren't you the guy that sold your FLD that you tried to get back a few weeks ago?

yep, that's me. The dealer sold my FLD so i was able to trade in the 387 i bought for this Western Star. Between the WS and the 387, the WS is deff the better truck as the 387 had a C-13 that used a gallon of oil a week and the trans was bad. The MPG I am getting now is only .5 less than the 387 as well.

At 60mph, flat ground it is about 6-7psi. I also drove into a lot of head-winds this week, so that didn't help much. My trip back from Victoria last week, with perfect weather and no wind I avg 7.2mpg

Wow, why did you go from one CAT with undesirable results to another CAT? You should look on Craigslist lots of deals on there on trucks for low prices by private owners.

I thought the C-13 would net me descent MPG, and being a 387 i figured it would help out with areodynamics. I was wrong on both accounts...... and the reason I got the WS was because it is a very nice truck, has a pre-emissions single turbo CAT that can be made to get good MPG and also the dealership offered me the same amount I paid for the 387 back towards the WS. So I figured if I was going to get bad MPG, i might as well look good doing it :biggrin_2559:

That is a beautiful truck! Hopefully you can get that mpg up close to where your FLD was.

I don't think that will ever happen. Plus I am switching from tanker to van on Monday, so I'm sure it will get worse. But I do have 4 States putting on a Turbo Wing for me next month, so hopefully that will help with the drag a bit.
