After taking a few weeks to research companies, there are a few things I have learned.

    1. Internet research along with word of mouth can be extremely helpful.
    2. Talking with drivers of the companies I am researching is hands down the best information available.
    3. Finding a company that really fits all of my requests seems impossible, therefore flexibility is a must.
    4. Writing down my request's & priorities is a must.
    5. Writing down the companies policies as they apply to my request & priorities offers a black & white comparrison, this removes emotion or excitement, it also throws recruiter personalities to the wind, allowing 0 tollerance for sales tactics.

I will be starting CDL training in a few weeks July 16th, as I continue to interview perspective employers. Currently Schneider rises to the top based on what they offer and what is said about them around the net. My choices to date are:

CR England, PAM transport, Stevens Transport & Schneider.

I continue to do research and am hopeful that I can find the company that will provide a mutually gratifying relationship, for my part I expect to work hard, listen intently, perform safely & legally.

Some of my hopes in my new career were:

    1. Finding a company that has a decent home time policy (3 wks or less)
    2. Finding a company that has a pet policy ( It's here dog, but I love the lil s*_t.
    3. Finding a company that would maintain our relationship by allowing my hard work and dedication to pay off with a decent 1st year paycheck!
    4. Finding a company with APU's installed.
    5. Finding a company that I would consider for long a term career as apposed to getting my year or two and moving on to the next.

I feel as though my search was not established with a difficult set of parameters, however I am having an impossible time finding a company that offers all of my 5 desires.

Schneider seems to come the closest with 3 out of 5. (the important 3)

If anyone has any suggestions on companies out there that meet all 5, offer CDL training and treat people like people, I would appreciate some direction.

You must have missed something in your research. CR England is pretty universally considered to be about the worst company to work for.

I suggest you spend a few hours with your beverage of choice one night and look through the postings on this site very thoroughly. There is a TON of great information on this site if you are looking for an OTR company to work for.

    SLIM,

I wholeheartedly agree CRE is not worth consideration! I think i mis wrote when I said "my choices were". I meant I have offers from the 4 I listed.

Later on in my post I reported Schneider & PAM seem to be the best choices.

This site and many others like it have clearly pointed out the fact the CRE is a vaccuum.

Thanks for your post and correcting my error.

I feel the truck company web sites dont help all that much. They just ticle your ears.
I remember looking into CR England, their website makes them and their lease seem to be the best.
Pod cast that interview drivers tha only brag how great things are.

Now the truth spend time reading what a CR England truck is really like.

This site has helped me also. I pretty much did the same as you and have been in training with Crete for a bit and could not be happier.

Being a Cr England graduate i beg you to stay away from the company they dont care about there drivers they do nothing but flat out lie to there drivers. And force there lease program on you. I suggest you check out ripoffreports.com most companies like Schneider, CrEngland, Swift, Werner have there fair share on there luckily i found a good job with a really good company and i am home weekends and i still crank out the miles. Just be very careful as to the paperwork you sign joining with any company i wish you the best of luck. And i will meet you on the zipper.

I have applied to a training school here in ST Louis and one of the companies that they recruit for is Stevens. I saw an add in the local paper that Stevens will pay 800 dollars a week for training after completion of training with Nu Way Traing school. I guess what i need to know is Stevens a good company to work for and what is their home time policy like, anyone know? The benefits seem to be the same with almost every company that I have checked into on the internet. Need advice, the recruiter that I talked with at the school keeps pushing for Werner and from the posts that I have seen here I am not interested in going that route.

I am considering CR England in Salt Lake City, Utah - trying to find out their dog policy as I want to bring my black lab with me.
