    Hey everyone!
O.k so here's the deal. I have heard many bad reports about C.R.E and that is deffinately helping me in my decision proccess but, does anyone have anything possitive to say? I haven't committed to them yet but, it seems as though they may be one of my only options. I will be obtaining my class A (have had class B for 8 years and am upgrading) here in Maine and a local company here has fallen through so, I'm scrambling trying to find something else.
Please, no ranting or anything, just the facts. All comments are welcome but, as I said, there are many negatives from folks and I am having a hard time believing that nobady has anything good to say. Here is your chance!

what i can tell you is what a couple of my former students told me...that once you go to thier school in whatever state it's in, you turn over your license for THAT state license, then get a permit for THAT state. then when you get home, you now transfer that out of state license to your home state..

ok now, from orientation/training, you will get "subliminal messages" on how good it is to be your own boss, and how wonderful an opportunity exists with them if you sign on a lease deal...when you get to go with your driver-trainer, he (or she) will also pound it into your head that being your own boss is great...! from what i have also heard, there will be (or might be) a second driver-trainer you will go with that will try to sell you the idea of being a lease operator.

at one time, long, long ago, CR England (when the old man owned it), was a "Premier" trucking company that one HAD TO HAVE at the very least 2 years experience BEFORE they even opened up your mail with your application in it..

nowadays, they are about the worst of the worst to go to..but however, some people (like yourself) may have no other option, so this limits your choices greatly.

all i can say is, if this truly is the only company that will accept you, for gosh sakes, just be a driver, NOT a lease operator....put in 6 months to 1 year, and blow them off, for someone else...

good luck to you, let us know how you make out.

There is no way I would lease a truck to start off with. That is just way too much and I know far too little about the industry. As far as trading my maine license for and Indiana license, this is the first I have heard of that. I have to admit that it sounds a bit wierd. (not saying it's untrue) I just don't see the purpose behind it. Does it really matter where you obtain your class A? I mean, its all federal now so ... Thank you very much for the info!

you can only get a permit from the state you "reside in"....a Maine permit will do you no good in Indiana...so they "give you" an Indiana address, then you turn in your Maine license, get an Indiana license (car license) then a CDL permit..then when you pass the CDL tests out there in Indiana, you'll get an Indiana CDL...when you get home to Maine, you then simply transfer over your Indiana CDL for a Maine one...this is how its done.

Just an fyi, Illinois requires a full test, no instant transfers. Or so I was told. Not sure of the costs...

Yeah but, I'm talking about a full CDL A license, not a permit. I have heard of people moving from one state to another havinf to take written tests to transfer their license but usually just a fee and a small mountain of paperwork. I do know there is no way I would change my residency to a place like Indiana. yuk:biggrin_2555:

You have no choice, since you HAVE to get a cdl permit before you can get your cdl license you have to give up your license from what ever state you came from( because you can only hold one license from one state). You cant get a indiana permit without a indiana operators license and you have to have the cdl permit to go to a trucking school in indiana or you wouldnt be able to drive at the school. Its really not that hard to figure out unless you have done no research before deciding to go to school to become a truck driver.
