I applied to four different tanker jobs 3 days after finnishing my CDL schooling and receiving my CDL license. About 3 days later I was sent to do a drug test and physical. A week later I was issued a trainer learning to haul diesel for the oil field. Then two weeks after working with the diesel company, two of the other places I applied (water tanker & crude hauler) called asking me to come in for an interview. Three weeks after that I received my Hazmat letter and issued my own diesel tanker. And every one of those of those companies including my current company required 2yrs experience. So don't let this so called expereince requirement stop anyone from appling for a job. I've been hauling diesel for almost 3mths and love it.

The time from signing up for my CDL class to hauling diesel without a trainer was roughly 10 weeks. The CLD class was my very first experience with a big truck or diesel, I never even driven a basic diesel four wheeler.jvar4001 Thanks this.

You should get two letters, one confirming they have received your application for review and the second one should be an approval letter. Once you have the approval letter in hand you're good to go. It took me 4wks to receive my approval letter...about 5-6wks for my new lic.rookietrucker Thanks this.

I believe it. There's always the excption. If someone is new with little to no experience I wouldn't count on the kind of luck Svoray had - but definately do try. One never knows until they ask.jvar4001 Thanks this.
