How is Boyd's home time for the southeast.

 

Josh is primarily home every weekend, typically from saturday morning until sunday afternoon. But there are several times when he gets home on fridays. Really just depends where he is as far as distance away and how much driving time he has left in the day. I'd say in comparison to what I've read about other companies this is really good. They do allow you to stay out if you want, and if you are held out, sometimes they will give you a few extra days home the following weekend to make up for it if you desire it. Overall, we both are relatively content with the company

 

Thanks, I am going to apply with them. Does anyone know about their training. I have had my license for 2 years, but I haven't been driving. I am wanting to know if they will give you a driving test and then base your training off of that.

 

Nevermind, I called them and they only want 6 months experience or fresh out of school.

 

Sorry to say this but if you had your CDL and have not drove for 2 years. I have talked with several companies and the said I need to go back to school and need to contact them with in 1 month or they cant take me . Good luck.

 

im a current boyd driver and i was thinking about doing the lease with boyd.are there any drivers on here thats in the lease or has done the lease.please give me some info on it..thanks be safe out there drivers yall can find me in truck #7231

 

I just went back to work for Boyd a few weeks ago. Last time I was with them, which was just over a year ago, I was told I didnt run enough miles a week to lease a truck...told me, I HAD to average 2500 plus a week..lol..like it was my fault....I have talked to many drivers that didn't not like their lease program...but you can talk to Steve B(something), b'ham manager and he can give you all the info you want...well, atleast all of the fees..truck payment, equipment rental, tripak cost, etc.

 

I've been reading the post and I am seeing a lot of talk about training and trainers . I am assuming that all of this training is for brand new drivers .
I have not seen anything about pay ... I am THINKING about MAYBE doing a lease with Boyd . What are some of you lease drivers taking home a week ? I have 7 years OTR driving . All I need is a securment class. I drove in the Army back in the early 80's and thats about the only time I have driving a flat bed . You dont need to be a rocket scientist to secure a load . With 7 years of OTR I dont need to go out with a trainer .
A 34 hour restart is not home time . I read one post that said something like , getting home on saturday morning and back out on sunday afternoon , THATS NOT home time . I stay out 2 or 3 weeks and when I go home I want good home time . Whats the story with the agility test ?????
I have heard some pretty bad things about Boyd . I have heard that Boyd is a lot like alot of other companies , they will give you plenty of work as a lease driver and when you start getting close to the end of your lease , miles drop like a rock .Do the dispatchers hound you on the QC , another words , give me my load and let me do my thing and dont bother me ie "where are you " why are you not rolling .
I am looking for a company where I can make money and I dont mean 38cpm I am looking for at least 67% of the load . I will run Lerado if knowone esle wants to as long as those loads pay .
I have a personal financial goal to meet and I have a 2 year time period
