Once you get through training on the reefer side, you start at 33 cpm plus fuel bonus. Can't say about flatbed - and U2 posted something awhile back that tanker company drivers have a higher starting rate. I can't be sure what that is, so my suggestion is (once again) get in touch with the recruiters.
That being said, they usually want you to do your B-seat training on the reefer side, simply because there are more trainers available - meaning less sitting around time waiting for a trainer. Plus, you'll get the miles faster. They would have you jump over to a tanker (or a flatbed if that's the way you want to go) for the specialized training for those divisions for a month or so after that.chirp63 Thanks this. -
That sounds like a pretty good deal. I see Prime Trucks everywhere, nice equipment! I especially noticed they have nice trailers. Theres a Prime truck next to me, looks like a newer Freightliner Cascadia, and a great looking trailer!

Ironpony - that is a good point about training with the Reefers and then being able to switch to Flat bed. I didn't think you could do that.

does anyone know if you already have a class b and you need the cdl a permit the only test you have to do is the combination test to get the permit
-
There was one person in my training class who was upgrading from a class B to a class A permit and they had them take all of the test again. Their class B permit was from their home state and they were getting their class A in MO, which may be why. It may differ from state to state but in Illinois if you want to upgrade and as long as your permit was issued in IL, you only have to take the combination test, unless you want other endorsements.
poncho75 Thanks this. -
so do you think if i came out to springmo with permit in hand then the only test i would have to take is the road and pre trip test just wondering if thats the case then i would rather just get my permit in my home state do you know if they would except a paper copy i know it takes like two weeks for the hard copy to come in
