If I'm at a creepy truck stop, I pull the seat belts through the door handles and lock them tight. I also keep pepper spray beside my bed.
How do I stop knocks on my door at night?

Thanks for the laugh.

Well, my goal is to not get woken up in the first place. I'm not sure your idea would work with all of them. When I drove with my husband, we had a lot lizard offer to take care of both of us so some obviously don't care about gender. Pretty gross, I think. Thanks for the tip.

Following my post, I began asking other drivers and got a few good ideas. The one I decided upon was a simple Do Not Disturb sign in my window. Since then, I have had no knocks. I plan on getting my own truck in a couple of years at which point I will be able to bring a dog with me. I will then change my sign to Beware Of 120-lb Angry Doberman.

I do the seatbelt-through-the-door-handle thing and I would never park in an isolated area. I don't get out of my truck after dark without pepper spray in hand. I think I'll stick with being a sissy; I don't want to grow balls. I'm happy with the parts God gave me.
Thanks for the tips. -
Schneider had me in a Volvo for six months and I hated it, one of the reasons being the air horn in the steering wheel. Till I got used to making sure I never accidentally bumped it, I kept worrying that some big, hairy, tattooed driver was going to beat me up for blowing my air horn in a truck stop at night.

That's a little too much honesty.

This thread is not BS. I started it because I was truly looking for answers. I do not make poor choices of stopping points unless there is no choice. I was forced to park at the TA in Jessup, MD, against my better judgment, because I delivered to Giant Foods across the street and was out of hours. I had no issues there but I did not feel comfortable.

It happened twice since I started this thread and since I've been putting a Do Not Disturb sign it my window, it hasn't happened since. Maybe that's just coincidence; I don't know. The first time I got a knock on my door at night was at a small truck stop in Rockingham, NC (US 74). I don't remember where the second place was.

Thankfully, Schneider has a terminal in Atlanta so I never have to park overnight at a truck stop there. I have gone to the Atlanta Pilot for food at Wendy's. There's a guy there that waits to spot you while you park (even if you're bobtail) and then he wants a tip. I'm always afraid these kind of guys are going to do something to the truck because I don't give them money.
