Authorities with The Ohio State Highway Patrol were investigating a crash on Interstate 77 near the exit closest to Westfield Belden Village Mall in Jackson Township.
JACKSON TWP.
A pickup truck collided with a tractor-trailer Thursday on Interstate 77, seriously injuring a Canton man, investigators say.
Bradley Schaller, 30, remains in serious condition in Mercy Medical Center. He was partially thrown from his pickup, according to the Ohio Highway Patrols Canton Post.
The crash occurred around 10:13 a.m., just north of the Everhard Road exit, in the northbound lanes of I-77.
Traffic was reduced to one lane for several hours while the crash was investigated.
State troopers said that witnesses reported seeing Schaller drive at high speeds onto I-77 from the Everhard Road entrance ramp.
His truck went off the right side of the road, bounced off a guardrail and crossed three lanes of the interstate, troopers said.
The truck then struck the concrete median barrier and re-entered the roadway, striking the 2010 Peterbilt semi, troopers said.
The semi was driven by Timothy Beitzel, 53, of Bolivar, who was not injured in the crash.
Sgt. Carlos Smith said Schaller, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially thrown from his truck.
The crash remains under investigation.
No speed has been determined, yet. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, Smith said

hope the guy recovers....BUT THATS NOT A PETERBILT!!!!!! dang it....says he hit a 2010 Peterbilt....got the spelling right...but thats a freightliner...
-
Yeah, Freightliner not a Pete. Also a Tractor, not a Tractor-Trailer... Sheesh, some people's kids...
-
No kidding, if your going to shoot a photo and talk about what kind of truck it is, get the right truck in the photo.
That Freightshaker was not even involved in the crash. -
As a rule, I don't argue with anything that has more lug nuts than me....maybe this pick- up owner should adopt the same rule. Seriously though, I hope he recovers.
-
I know this is not a joking matter & do hope the guy in the p/u fully recovers. But how does one get partially thrown from a vehicle? If one gets thrown, it is pretty clear cut isn't it?
-
i have seen wrecks where the victum was laying half in/ out of vehicles. And it happened to a good friend 12 years ago. Ask any EMT/ Fire Rescue, and they can tell you some stories.
-
we came up on a wreck one year in dallas...the guy was thrown out of his pickup and it was laying on top of him...from his waist up...he was pinned underneath...traffic was stopped and i set my brakes and ran up to see if i could help....i will never forget that sight as long as i live....
-
Could be that Freightliner belongs to someone who stopped to check on the guy, and the Pete wasn't in the photo. Argue much? Sheesh!
MUSTANGGT Thanks this. -
Could be, could not be. News reporters are notorious for misstating information about Truck Wrecks.
