Let us know how trucker school goes. I thought about doing that but got extremely lucky. The company I worked in a warehouse for got me my cdl. It's two years later now and I'm jettin' for bigger $$$. Sorry NWGlass, they were good to me but the pay is better somewhere else.

I drove for this company for 10 yrs, and I must say that they are, by far the best outfit that I have ever had the pleasure to work for. I attended their school in 1991 and had a great 10 year career. I hope that they are still up to their high standards in customer and driver appreciation.

Could anyone give me some info on WS? I start CDL school on the 16th in SLC Utah. WS is one of the pre-apps they gave me. I have been doing hrs of research on all the companys she gave me pre-apps for and have found WS to be at the top of (as many have said) what has become a very short list. Pay, Miles, hometime, Kind of trucks, Family ride-along, orientation? Anything,,,, Thanks..

Check out the Watkins and Shepard threads in the DAC section. There is some wonderful and useful information there and the W/S crew are awesome at answering questions and explaining things. :)

This thread kind of went dead... :biggrin_25521:

Any updates from those that were either in their 10 day or planning to go?

I've got my DMV skills and driving test next Wed, CDL school graduation on Friday and if all goes well, on a plane (I'll opt for bus fare reimbursement, no way I'm sitting on greyhound for 24 hours) to Missoula MT on Sunday for 8/22 ten day....:biggrin_25525:, if I get the A OK from my recruiter....

Any updates would be much appreciated....

Because after the 10 days you are in a truck, on your own, not 3-8 weeks with a trainer like a lot of other companies.

    sal Thanks this.

Ok, then i assume it is considerably shorter for an exp driver.

That sounds more like the norm.
