Are you using the 5xx or 7xx TNDs? Reason I ask is you can save your current location and add those type of comments when you customize the location name. The location then goes into your address book. The 7xx( mine is the 710) also has a notepad feature where you can add those type of notes as well. It's not perfect but it might a good work around for the kind of comments you expressed to Mark.

Just an idea while Mark struggles with this custom POI thing.

I don't have either, but am strongly considering the 710. I appreciate the notepad suggestion. I've been doing something similar with my Garmin for years, and it'd be easier to import them as a poi file versus waiting to arrive at those locations again and re-entering one by one. It is probably one of the main reasons I still use a Garmin. Would rather be able to update these things myself rather than waiting on someone else.

Mark, any idea if this feature can be added to the 710, or probably will be included in the next product release? Thanks.

This is on the feature list and being tested. If you have custom POI's and wish to send me your files, I would appreciate that.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Do you still have the unit that has no GPS? If so, E-mail me and we will work it from there.

PS... please do not yell at me. I am taking an unknown and trying to gather some details so that I might help you.

    Thanks,
    Mark

The power button on my 710 just broke today. I can't turn it off any longer. I got the unit in march. You would think it would have lasted a bit longer than 3 months.

Thanks, Mark. So a partial back up just backs up the address book and the partial restore won't over write the operating system?
