Being like what? Wanting to go to work and make money as a company driver? Give me all my options up front, if I was told in orientation that I might have to wait a month for a truck if I didnt do L/P then maybe I would have made a different decision. And I wont last because of ..........?

That's a rather Horse's #$$ attitude isn't it? What's so bad about the COMPANY following through on an agreement? In Fact, it's beginning to sound like WERNER's BuII$h*t line: Well we don't have any company trucks, so if you don't want to SIGN OUR LEASE AGREEMENT for the COMPANY SHARECROPPER PROGRAM you can continue on with your Trainer, running like a Team Truck making big bucks for us, while we pay you the Chickensh*t Training pay we've been paying you for the past 6 weeks, OR you can go home and wait. Sounds like a great way to support your family doesn't it? Yet, you seem to think he's asking too much from the great KLLM.

After my KLLM Road Training they found me a truck. It was in Portage, but they found me one. I had to make another trip with my trainer to get there, but I did get a truck.

As for being a Lease or Company driver, I wanted to make a year before making that decision. I didn't hire on to BUY A TRUCK FOR THE COMPANY TO USE, but at the time, the Lease sounded pretty good. I just wanted to get a years perspective on the job and the company. That was not too much to ask was it?

So I finally schedule my Lease Orientation Class. A few weeks before the class, we got the dreaded Company Phone Recording, telling us that the Lease Pay Per Mile was going down and the company was trying to reorganize the "Model of the Company". Well, OK, that's not what I signed on for either, but I'll take a chance. Then, just before the class, we get another notice, that the pay per mile is dropping AGAIN, and they are going UP ON THE TRUCK PAYMENTS. WHAT??? How nice. Sorry, but I saw the handwritting on the Wall. Can you say: CR ENGLAND, WERNER, SWIFT? They all have Lease Programs that are getting very close to what KLLM was offering now. I immediately CANCELLED my Lease Orientation. Then guess what happens? You start getting the Crap Runs, fewer miles, reasons why you can't get home for 3 days after 6 weeks, etc. The company, dispatcher and supervisor attitude changed overnight. You don't want to be a sharecropper with very little experience, then we will FORCE YOU into it, or FORCE YOU OUT.

So in all fairness, you may be a company man, just as I was when I was there, but fair is fair, and an agreement to be hired as a company driver, doesn't mean you have to WAIT FOR A TRUCK. Regardless of what you may think of the guy, that's ridiculous for any company. Especially KLLM.

I guess that's why I'm happy at my job today, where I'm treated with respect as a Driver, with decent pay and benefits, and I don't have to BUY THEM A TRUCK to make money with. So give the guy a break. :biggrin_25516:

No Romans - they are low on trucks because they filed for Chapter 11 in November, it was finalized in January, and they had a group of trucks repo'd as part of it...trucks that L/P operators had turned in and walked away from once the company began, apparently, taking lessons from CR ENGLAND on how to structure their lease program.

    Welcome to Rumor Control.

I, myself, am getting ready to walk away from mine because they want to **** around with bubblegum and baling wire repair jobs, patch the same crap up 4-5 times before fixing it right, costing me a crapload of downtime.

I have been out on the road for 12 weeks since my last hometime and out of those 12 weeks I have made a grand total of FIVE paychecks in the positive - the lowest two being $13.02 and $102.47.

I have made less than $600/mo for the past THREE MONTHS. I can make that flipping hamburgers at McDonalds, be home in my own bed every night and still have the option of finding a second job to boost my income.

So don't crack on this guy because he's maybe a bit smarter than us and doesn't wait for the bear to bite him on the #$$ before deciding it might be a good idea to bail out of the tent.

They had a bunch of trucks repo'ed in January, and then in January they turned around a bought a bunch of Volvos? I hadn't heard about the bankruptcy, that makes me nervous.

I just came back to jackson to get a truck. I was informed there is no longer a waiting list for company trucks. How long that will last is anyones guess.

Holy Crap Toad!!! I figured that if anyone could get things done in the shop it would be you. I've been hearing the rumors from some drivers I run into or know, and you always think they are just RUMORS. But when I keep hearing the same thing over and over, and then from you, I seems that many of the rumors are true.
I have talked with 4 or 5 drivers that were top notch people, were eager and willing to do the job and were even overlooking the negatives, trying to keep a positive attitude, but just continued to get hammered by the shop, by the dispatchers and by the company in general. In fact, one has now been with CR England for about 6 months now and has doubled his income since leaving KLLM. That's really sad. I couldn't believe it..... No, I wouldn't have believed it, but he showed me the settlement statements from both companies. I was really hurt for him and what he went through. I really know this guy personally and have worked with him.
I intend to stay where I am unless something really amazing comes along. I have adjusted to a seeing a 53 footer from the mirror of a Day Cab and sleeping in my own bed. Good luck girl, hope things work out for you one way or the other.

Well...I just deadheaded from Denver to Dallas....went totally renegade....fed up.

Sad thing is...no one even noticed until I got 30 miles north of Amarillo....8 hours after I left Denver. Seriously??? WTF???

Some advice for those going into the lease program - if you think about taking the maintenance escrow because they tell you the trucks are under warranty...
I'd make them give you recent verification, signed and dated by Freightliner, with the truck number on it.
I have heard from quite a few drivers now - they took the escrow because they were told the trucks still had a lot of warranty on them....only to find out the first time they took them to Freightliner that the warranties were void because the maintenance and repairs had not been done in accordance with the terms of the warranties.

    Just a heads up... O,o
