A couple of weeks ago, we were stopped at mile 87 off I-40 in TN and I was stretching my legs and having a smoke. As a prospective operator I was watching people back into spaces and such. I was watching this perticular guy move his rig into a space 2 down from ours and when he got out he asked me if I wanted a tip. I laughed it off thinking he was being a smart ### (which I can appreciate) and walked off. I told the story to my friend and he told me that there are actually guys out there that do precisely that.

I live in maryland see that jessup,md truckstop, I could definitely see you feeling uncomfortable there, but they have cleaned that place up a lot. Use to be rampant with prostitutes, still pretty dirty there.

I've been to that TA a few times over the years, and the only problem I had was some knucklehead running his straight pipe jakes around the parking lot for twenty minutes. Not a good idea to wake up ol' brsims. Might meet Thorg the barbarian. And Thorg never in good mood...

I've lived in a cargo van for the past two years, and the best advice I see repeated here has been the best advice I've found in my own situation: Hide in a well lit, plain sight area. It keeps the majority of the riff-raff away.

I actually like this Volvo, a lot. The guy I work for owns two trucks - this Volvo and a Peterbilt 379 - and he was looking for drivers for both trucks. I asked for the Volvo, and have no regrets about that.
But there are a couple things about it I'm not so thrilled about. I wish the caps for the fuel tanks were placed at the front of the tanks, under the fairing, I don't like the self-canceling turn signals, and the air horn being on the steering wheel, I think is a really bad idea.

I don't know what the older Volvos are like; I was in a 2010 and I thought it was one big pile of bad design. I could write a short novel on all of the things I didn't like about it. Now that I'm solo, Schneider put me back in a Freightliner Century. I know it's a bottom-of-the-line fleet truck but, I love it. The controls are laid out in a very logical way and I don't have to pull up twenty feet in front of the fuel pumps to reach my tanks.

I don't remember having self-canceling turn signals but I do remember that the turn signals were so incredibly loud that my husband did something under the dash to muffle the sound so we could get some sleep.

Get yourself the jumbo "Fist" sex toy, and prop it up in your window. It may not keep them all away, but it'll separate the pros from the amatuers!
