Go to google and search for drive away insurance. There is a company that specializes in this exact type of insurance. I don't remember their name but I saw it a couple of weeks ago when I was in your shoes.

I agree the odds are good but ..... The risk is not worth the chance of a fine and the possibility of being forced to park the truck who knows where until the proper paperwork is in place.

Not worth the hasle to chance it. Bought a truck at auction for old boss a couple years ago that was a walk away when it got impounded in GA for no tags. This is not a shut down till it is fixed or a fix it ticket.

And worse, get in an accident with no plates or insurance. Oh man that would be bad.

Call an insurance agent that does trucks. Your not going to find insurance for one trip. You do not need tags if you have a Bill of Sale. Your not pulling a trailer and your not hauling freight with it. Your going to need to get non-trucking liability (bobtail) insurance and when you get home cancel the policy. Your not going to be able to get trip/fuel permits unless you have authority. So get the insurance, get the Bill of Sale, put it in the wind and drive safe.
