Since a strike is political in nature, the whole thread should be moved.

I do not see this as a political nature.

People have the right to discuss whether a strike would be beneficial to their job or not.

Politics should not even come into a play as to whether it would reduce the fuel prices or not.

The subject of a nationwide truckers strike over high fuel costs is most definitely a political discussion, if you don't believe me ask your governor.

Politicians are supposedly elected to office to look after their constituents best interests, allowing speculators to run up the price of oil is not in my best interest.

Your opinion is different than mine.

Fuel prices are not set by governments yet. Maybe they should be since they have no excuse for the excessive profits they make.

You can either have government control or not.

Get a bigger government or not.

    Does not make it political.

Securities and exchange is mainly for stock market investments and such.

They do nothing for the corporation to set their prices.

The only thing they COULD possibly examine is the wanton investing on futures markets on oil. However, there is nothing illegal in the way it is done. It needs to be changed to make them actually purchase the products and store it before it can be considered an investment.

    Remember Flying J?

They dabbled in the futures market on the oil and in effect were helping to drive prices up. Then the bubble burst and they were left holding the bag.

The only way this could even become a political issue is the implementation of law changes.

I was referring to the speculating that is taking place and driving up crude oil prices.

    It should be illegal impo.

I also believe in small gov. although would like to see whatever regulatory arm this falls under (may be the FTC) actually do their job.

If you guys would quit writing your garbage on bathroom walls and the back of trailers and instead promoted a strike everyone would listen. Put fliers up, create a website or facebook group so people could get updates. Instead you talk so much garbage on the c.b. that I took mine out years ago. People will never look at you as a professional until you start acting and driving professional. Speeding, tailgating, cutting other drivers off, passing in no passing zones, I think they pay most you too much as it is.
