I was told by another driver he had same issue. He believes the constant jarring from the ride causes the plug in to eventually work loose in the unit. I honestly don't know what the problem but as long as Rand stays behind it so will I. Im very pleased with the TND at at this point wouldn't trade it for any other device on the market.

I have the 500 and will be upgrading to the 710 any day now. I am told that you can have multiple stops and see the whole route on the new unit. That will be nice.
If I connect my old unit the computer then connect the new unit, will my location notes transfer? -
Connect your 500 to the computer and on the Dock, top row, 2nd from the left, do a backup (not full), then disconnect that unit and connect the 710, on the Dock, top row, 2nd from the left, do a restore (not Full). Disconnect your 710 and verify the data transferred. Then connect the 710 back up and do an update.
If you do the update first you will copy empty data files into the Dock and the update will show a new version, but no user data. Do the backup\restore first... then update.

DITTO HERE!! I bought my husband the 710 after what I thought was some pretty good research. He has the exact same problem described here. Maybe I'm dense (which I know I'm not) but it's ridiculous to suggest that a commercial driver running OTR has the time to connect to a wall outlet for 4-5 hours on a regular basis to resolve the issue!! This unit worked for 2 weeks and started acting up... He has loads to p/u and drop and I don't see how he can ship under warranty while all the paperwork is home!
Hubby had a Magellan Roadmate that was packed away for over 2 years and still works like a champ!! The issue is that it is not configured for trucks. I am extremely disappointed with this unit - it should not need anything other than the 12V to stay operating. Based on this experience we will not be considering a Rand McNally product again. -

I'm in need of a replacement part that I can't find. I need JUST the suction cup for the windshield. I've tried aftermarket cups but they never seem to fit that "nub" on the plastic mount. Is there some place to get a replacement suction cup?
