nice_n_eeez, hang in there. I'm in the same boat. With over 20 years OTR, it's insulting to be called inexperienced. I was out of the country for a while and everything has changed for the worse. Echoing what others have said, companies can move freight for less money with new drivers or driver/trainee team combos. I guess its the nature of the beast to think of the bottom line only.
I try not to take it personally. I don't allow others to determine my self-worth. Recruiters, companies, driving schools all have their own objectives which don't always line up with my own. I have found my niche at Crete, and I will stay as long as I can rise above the ****! It's a new world out there.
I used to work for a pile driving company out of Virginia. I hauled cranes, counterweights and other equipment. That was one of the most interesting jobs I've had. We had to drive through swamps and forest and all sorts of interesting places. I had the opportunity to become a crane operator, but I passed on it. Looks like a lot of fun though.
One suggestion for OTR job would be Old Dominion Frieightlines. They seem to have a lot of openings in Texas. Even if you do have to go through training, its not much money if you agree to work for them for a certain amount of time. Its a great company. You might have to run team though. Who knows. Worth a look. Wish you the best. -
I drove 'regional' for a while, and had the same problem,
Even though my 'Region' was the lower 48 and Canada,
The 'Job Description' said 'Regional'. -
Cranes are not 18 wheelers!

Uh-huh. SOME of them have a hell of a lot MORE than 18 wheels. . .
