Ugh! Stuck in trucker hell here in Pearland,Tx Shawcore Pipe. Been here over 5hrs while they pick and choose which pipe loads they want to unload. First come first served means squat with these guys!

Can anyone tell me how many weeks students are on the road with trainers? Is it a set number of weeks, or do the trainers decide when the student is ready to be on their own?

    Thanks!!

students stay with trainers for a minumum of 21 days then afterr that it is up to the trainer on when u get back to finish your eval. i have had students for exactly 3 weeks then i have had a couple that i kept for almpst 6 weeks before i felt safe letting them do it theirselves , so it is how well you get everything you are taught . but either way good luck and if any of you new drivers have a problem with your trainer it is not held against you to call curt or ed huffman and let them know and you will be brought back and assigned to another trainer , just pay attention and and keep a good attitude about everything you will be just fine

    Thank you...

I am comparing Mav to TMC. Except for the tuition reimbursement and GI Bill that TMC pays, Maverick looks like the better choice..

I like Conshohocken...I get most of my loads going home from there :yes2557:

I have always gotten in and out pretty quick...some of those docks are a pain in the ### though.

And speaking of bad places to back in (Jarrett is tight, but you do have room to maneuver to get lined up)...

Nelson Steel in Franklin Park, IL...it took me 20 minutes to get backed in there today. There is almost NO room for error in your setup, and barely enough room to get properly setup to back in.

You have to pull in there, pull past where you unload (under the crane), then back up into the "alley", pull back out into the drive...and blindside into the dock under the crane.

In the pic below...the yellow line is a row of concrete barriers, the red dot is a concrete barrier that sits by the end of the crane rail, I rubbed a tire on this backing in, didn't blow it but it took a chuck out of the tire and I had to get it changed in Gary, the tire was wore out anyway but still...I knew the tire was gonna rub (it barely rubbed), but I honestly didn't think the concrete would cut it the way it did, it was smooth (had been hit a few times before)...the end of the crane rail was all bent up from drivers hitting it, the concrete barriers by the railroad (yellow line) were all scarred up...the guy that unloaded me told me a guy in a Peterbilt tore his front bumper off in there yesterday...hell of a place I tell ya!

Nobody offered to help me back in, I don't trust spotters anyway...but hell, they could have offered...after all, they were standing there watching :biggrin_25510:

The trailer just wouldn't pivot on the right axle at the right time...I had no choice but rub the concrete, if I had been over an inch I might have made it clean...but, I wasn't :biggrin_25512:

I sent a message on the QC telling Maverick that if it were my equipment...I'd scratch this dump off my list of places to deliver to...the odds of tearing something up are too high (especially with new drivers...no offense to the new guys)

I'll have to disagree. Truck still runs great and will pull like a freight train.
