Talked with them again yesterday, and I'll get my bus ticket confirmation # today, will be in Joplin on Sunday for orientation Monday. I'm super excited and looking forward to the next phase. I've heard a ton of good info about them and never realized how big of a company Con-Way is as a whole. Their growth from last year was a good indicator too. It's nice to get a job offer from the sixth largest carrier in the country fresh out of school. I'll be sure to keep you all posted along the way. Thanks for all the input thus far.

I'll be watching for your posts. I should finish up school by June and have been looking at Con-Way. Are you going company or owner?

been here 2yra . So far they treat me great. never have problem w/dm or safety. They recently move me to local and been doing it for 10mnths. Cant complaint much, thought some week will be slower than other(less paid). I think no company will be prefect but if u stay out of trouble u be ok.

As a trainer maybe you could give me some advice. My husband has been hauling race horses for 3 years. I have my CDL A but I haven't driven a tractor-trailer in 15 years. I have done expediting in a straight truck for 2 years. I was thinking of going back to trucking school for a refresher course. Does your company train, and how are your teams running(miles/time off)? Any NYC? Nice equipment? Do you hire out of Florida? Can I go to my own Dr. for DOT physical before orientation or do I have to have one at the company? Some companies let you bring your own new physical card and long form with you. Any info. you can give me on your company would be appreciated! THANKS:biggrin_25525:

Checked in at hotel this am. Epic 36 hours on/off greyhound bus to get here. I think Greyhound needs to reconsider their mascot choice. Met a few drivers on the bus switching over to Prime Tanker division and had some good company to talk trucks with. Looking forward to the week ahead. Met a few company and lease drivers today, folks seem happy to be here as well. Was nice to get a shower and good breakfast this am. Hope I never have to ride a bus again, and was humbled by some of the folks I saw along the way who are not in the prime of their life.

For me now in orientation, it's weekly. After that I honestly didn't ask. I would guess weekly based on miles/trips turned in. Will have to check on that,.... I'm sure I'll find out tomorrow.

Not a trainer there but... yes they hire from Florida, have ad on craigslist in Ocala and Orlando section every day, Teams are the choice there from everything and everyone I have heard, equipment is quite nice too, teams usually work into a T-660 with an 84" studio and have lots of miles. I think they might let drivers train spouse's but I don't know for sure, I think yes to NYC and they probably will want their dr.s doing DOT to be sure every thing they want checked is and no fudging of numbers are done by unscrupulous places.
Hope this helps and of course you can always go to their website which should give you answers and a contact number for any that aren't answered there.
