I think you will find running legal much more relaxing. Especially if the rates, coupled with SNI's discounts; will allow you to generate a good NET income.

 

I too was with LS for a year. I almost went broke dealing with all their deadhead and bs agents... I hated it. Plus, I refuse to work for a company who takes a % of ANY accessorial charges. I once had a layover, hand unload and detention and LS took their 35% cut of all of it!!!! Also they take a % of your stop-offs too.... SNI gives you 100% as it's already figured into the rate.

I also like SNI due to the fact they have operating centers allover the place which have showers, fuel, restruants and so on. Not to mention their shop rates are WAy less than the dealership. For instance, the Indy OC is only $72hr labor rate and you get the parts at their cost. I got a set of 3 brand new traingles for $5 and they only charged me $450 to put in brand new kingpins, where the Pete dealer wanted $1300 !!!

What about the physical and orientation? I've heard they are screening everyone for sleep apnea. Also will they accept my current physical since it was done by a real doctor who is also dot certified.

 

they accepted my physical that was only a few weeks old. You fax the long form and card to the recruiter and they will send it to medical to either be accepted or denied.

they are hot on that sleep apnea but as far as owner ops go they are not screening everyone. can't say with co drives though. there is lots of questions and stuff they ask throughout the orientation. just NEVER mention that you snore or they will send you for screening. On the other side of the coin as far as co drivers go,if you need a machine I believe they pay for it for them. at least that's what I heard

 

They will accept your current physical and they do not screen the O/O for sleep apnea and you also will not have to do the agility testing as that is only done with company drivers.

 

When u empty out and go home for a couple days,do u keep ur mt or do they want u to drop it somewhere?Would be frustating having to hunt another mt.lol

Depends on your location. They don't really care if you take an empty home with you. I just drop mine off at the Gary operating center and grab another when I come back in. But like I said, you can take the empty home if you like.

 

It's really not a bad gig. I got this MBN cat and I'm lucky if I get 5.4mpg so I just make sure I pic light loads and stay above $2 a mile. Tho if the flash Mr. Haney does can't get me over 6mpg then I might be looking at trading again for a taller aero truck or just buy one of their used company trucks and work it till the wheels fall off and see where I stand financially after that.

I'm also looking at putting a stainless roof mounted wing to see if that will help a bit.

Just a gain of 1 mpg for the 2000 miles is $235+ a week in my pocket.
