New to flatbed!!

Right!!! But running for an o/o we can't afford cheap freight and we don't get empty miles, so....we have that "target" cpm we shoot for, but we won't take anything under a certain point, if its not profitable, its not worth it (to us) .

 

He is talking about maverick, tmc, and btc not running for an O/O.

Not meaning to speak out of turn,
First year...gross income...maybe $35,000-$40,000...maybe less, it kinda depends on you (and a lot of other things)

You will spend at least $100 a week on the road (food, drinks, tobacco if you use it...stuff like that)

Its gets better as you get some experience though (raises)...figure 10,000 miles per month for a decent month...but for the sake of argument lets take a worst case scenario...8,000 miles per month x .43 (topped out pay) = appx. $860 a week gross income. Subtract the $100 I mention above = $760/week. Subtract another $100/week for medical insurance (for a family plan, its a lot cheaper if you're single) = $660/week.

The other various taxes have to come out too, but on even a bad week I make about $500....on a good week I make $1,000 (clear, take home)...that leaves the average somewhere around $750/week.

I'm honestly not sure what Maverick's starting pay is right now...but you probably do so just adjust the pay rate to the scenario above.

 

No; I don't drive for them anymore. To be honest I do not know what their avg is now. It used to be 52.5 for 1st year drivers. Might check with jimthehut. He has more current info on them than I do.

 

Notarps isn't a truck driver. He is a recruiter for Werner.

 

LOL, that makes alot of sense now! I stayed quiet, but after reading the name, I figured he wasn't a flat bedder, just another picky driver! LOL

 

He is actually a retired flatbedder.... I know for a fact cause we flatbeded together for awhile.... The recruiter thing is a inside joke.... Just don't steal his load from him.... He get's a little angry when that happens.

 

My 2 cents would have to be BTC only because one of their customer service agents was my old dispatcher David McDonald and when I worked for Western Express I used to get about 3200 miles a week with good pay. Always remember miles will come but being safe isn't an option!
