Sorry Charlie for ur luck, i stay out 2 weeks sometimes 3.

I tried that for about 6 mos., working every other weekend, but found that while I had one REAL good week, then I'd have one so-so week because I'd wind up out of my 70 hrs by tues or wed of the nxt week and would wind up sitting in a truck stop for a day or day & a half to reset my hrs-plus I was worn out all the time from running so hard.
I averaged it out over 6 mos and was still only averaging 2200-2300 wk. I decided I'd much rather spend my restart at home rather than in some truck stop somewhere. I don't know about you but I gotta get out of that truck every now and then! My life don't revolve around Epes Transport-or any other company, for that matter! haha

You must have Andrew for a DM too. I too am sorry to see him go. From what I gather, it wasn't his choice. Not sure what happened, but I hate to lose him.

My miles have dropped also in the past few weeks. Also we did get a little raise but have you seen how many miles per trip Epes is cheating us out of?

I have estimated it around 75 plus mile per load. I'm loosing around 600 mile a week with this company and it don't help with 62 mile an hour trucks. Not sure that I will stay much longer with this going on.:biggrin_25513:

Yes, that has been one of my biggest "pet-peeves" since starting with this company. Short route, or as I call them "helicopter" miles suck! I use a GPS and 9 times out of every 10 I route my trip as both "shortest" and then "fastest", and even use my "streets & trips" program on my laptop, but still can never come close to the miles I am getting paid for. I can't figure out how on earth they come up with some of the miles we are paid (or NOT paid!) for.
Then the icing on the cake is when they route your fuel stop 60-70 miles out of your "normal" route to save them a couple cents a gallon, but don't pay you the extra miles and the xtra hr or so out of your day to go that way. That REALLY gets my goat! I guess all companies have their little "quirks", but these policies really suck, in my opinion.....

Hey guys. I know we all trying to make as much as we can while being away from home and sometimes it can be frastraiting cause we not making as much as we want/need. It looks like your above mentioned complaints are more about condition of the industry we're in, rather then company itself.

Like most other companies EPES using a software that automatically calculates miles based on city centers, not the actual address. And it uses shortest possible way to get there. And because most of us like to run 4 lane highways, it should not be surprising that actual miles are always more than load miles. Now, there are some companies that promote themselves as paying "practical miles" that will get you 5% more of your miles paid, but usually they won't give you enough miles or not have as nice of the package we have at EPES. PLus some of them will penalize you for every "out of route" mile you take which we don't have to worry here...

Fuel stops, again, are generated by a program based on your "suggested routing". If you decide to go other way all you need to do is ask your DM to give you new fuel solution based on where you go, I do this all the time and never had a problem...
I think you'll agree that here at EPES we have some of most respectful and cooperative staff you can find in trucking industry. At least my experiance is a proof of that.
And BTW, our trucks are governed at 63, not 62 mph :biggrin_25525:

    Happy trucking!

I doubt seriously that they hire that far north. The majority of our freight is in southeast. But give 'em a call. It dont hurt to ask! 800 869 3737

Well I was feeling really good about Epes until the last few posts. I have been with a hardware distributor for 8 years now, and they decide to close our terminal. I have been doing research as I will need a new job in July. Epes' looks really good. Can anyone give me some info about Epes. That would be great.
