You would have to check with Scott at FCC regarding where they prefer to hire from. We do have drivers all over, but FCC does not want to hire too many from some areas at the risk they cannot get them home weekly like they say they will. Company drivers do pretty good also. There is really no distinction between company and O/O here. No preference that I have seen myself. The old "company trucks get the best loads" comments do not hold here. The bulk of the carrier is O/O by a 3 to 1 margin. We do have a fair amount of freight that gets into upstate NY, but since that is not my normal running area, I can't really state definitively what and how much goes in and out of there.

I like your informative and objective posts. However, I do remember having read in one of your posts a while back, that you were looking for opportunities to take your truck elsewhere. May I ask why ? My only interest in asking, is that FCC is one of the companies on my radar screen, in the event that I choose to become an o/o in the next couple of years. I'm not trying to be a smart-a%%, but am just curious. Thanks.

Don't recall wanting to go elsewhere, at least in the last couple of years. But I do always keep my "ear to the ground" and "shake the bushes", as it were, to see what may be available that is better. So far, nothing that I have found that fits me. So.... unless something really pops up, I will be here for a good, long while. Maybe I did make such a post a while back, just don't remember it. Might have been having a bad week then.

I want to give a big thanks to pound puppy for helping me make what seems to be a good decision for far!! Thanks buddy joined FCC Dec'11 2012. And even though I came in durning the holiday season, things are going pretty good, we are both on the same dedicated run. He's a o/o and I'm a company driver as of right now (hoping to change that by spring or summer of 2013), FCC's no buddy system on dispatch is working just fine. Can't wait till the first year to really get things rolling passed the holiday season... Thanks again ROB!!
